I know it's not Monday, but that camera takes really good photos.

And Gaby is yelling at me for taking a photo of her without her consent.

I am behind again but I just talked to my cousin who took the chicks this spring. I do not know if I should laugh or if I should cry. Right now I feel like crying after recent events. She was calling to talk to grandma but wanted to let me know how her chicks were doing and brag. Mazzie the silkie I let her talk me into letting go, is a pullet :he. In fact all but 2 that I told them were for sure boys are pullets. She also wants Corona's group of chicks when she is done with them. I already tried and failed to offer a trade. Let me have Mazzie back and you can have 8 in their place. Nope her grandson would kill her and me, Mazzie is a halftime house chicken that is going nowhere and it is not Mazzie it is Tiger Chicken.

Butters is eating more but is quite weak still. I gave her 25-30ml of baby formula, she went for the grit again, eating a few, and then stood on the treadle feeder and leaned in but didn't eat. However when I showed her pellets from my hand she swept them around and did actually eat some that fell out, mashing them into smaller bits and eating that. Then, digging for worms with my garden shovel she ate four or five small ones.
She is so weak Popcorn knocked her over pushing her to get at a worm. Last night she went foraging through deep weeds for bugs and got her foot hooked on something and couldn't pull her foot through to step forward. She sat down to rest after a few tries. I lifted her free, then trampled the weeds for her to follow me out.

Here she was taking off for the hills, she's in the middle, Popcorn in back and Hazel in front

So, what I am observing is a slightly better stance than before, tail is not down, it is kind of flat (so not up like it should be, but less 'depressed' looking than before) And she still seems to be carrying her head tucked in ('short necked - like it is difficult or too heavy to keep it up and extended) But, the head itself is not pointed down, it is pointed forward. imo, all subtly positive signs. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Your new BOs are adorable.🥰🥰🥰🥰 Really - you ordered 3and they sent you 5? Lucky you! You will make it work for now, despite not expecting that large of a crew to arrive.

So I still think they are a Easter Egger/Americana/Other “designer label” EE.
The second one has a rose comb - there is something more than EE in there! It is weird, upon looking at the breeds in this mix, none should have a rose comb. Maybe they are some of the 'hey, lets try this cross and see what we get!...keep a few back to see how they grow and lay, put the rest in an assortment. :idunno :idunno

Regardless of what they are, they are cutie pies, and I love the fascinators coming in!:love

Kinda PO'ed at Amazon. For the first time ever the hosed my order and sent sodium pills instead of the Selenium/vitamin E paste. Ordered a replacement and am fighting for a refund. In the meantime I found a supplement for goats at tractor supply that has the almost correct dosage of selenium. The pellets are the same size as the all flock pellets but with a slightly different smell. Mixed in a small amount per serving today and hope the chooks actually eat them. I've named the sick BR girl Betty. Betty gets more active and alert slowly but surely so waiting a couple more days for the paste isn't worrying me too much.

Light has had empty crop two days in a row! She is doing well. Her comb is better looking. It is still pale due to not laying. She is still growing her tail.

Remember when Light had to wear an apron for no feather? She has beautiful feather now! I do think her hard molt was hard on her body and possibly contributed to her crop issue.
Great job with Light! The triangle picture next to last is pretty cool too!
