There's almost nowhere to put that coop without putting it on a concrete oven.
The house I'm in is old and the laundry room is a addition.
My Mom rigged this up but I think she may be out getting more.

We have a "natural" dryer scent ball thing in there. I think I may be slightly allergic to it. But I am definitely allergic to the "free and clear" dryer sheets my Nana insists on using. I tried to read the ingredients but my eyes and nose reacted so fast to whatever on earth is in there that I could hardly read them.
Your mum needs to put a section of venting well outside the run area, a piece of wood is. Fire hazard. Gosh please tell her it’s a fire hazard 😢😢😢

Use metal venting do not use plastic ‘accordion’ type venting, also a fire hazard. It should be outlawed.

Ok well do some research get some facts together then do a spiel to your folks on the importance of health and safety 💕

I have them too but know what they look like.
I was just curious about the honey bees - I wade through the mint to put out the trash and recycling, as well as to harvest it for making mint water. As long as I move slowly they don’t seem too bothered by me. Sometimes they brush me on my hand but honestly that feels like a bit of an honor.
They act the same way over lavender and oregano blooms. Good to have along paths. Pretty much any flower that produces lots of little tiny blooms is a great edger due to bees absorption in all the nectar. They'll leave people going by alone (including kids running), unless someone goes kersplat on the flowers. Just FYI, oregano does impact the honey flavor....not necessarily in a good way.

Bees are generally very docile (other than Africanized bees), unless the queen or the hive is threatened.

Hornets also are generally fairly docile.

Wasps are extremely aggressive, and very easily provoked - something as simple and running a lawnmower overtop of their home will send them into a frenzy!!

Roosters are usually idiots when they are under 2 yrs of age - like wasps…

This is good to know.
Cypriano has not gotten to the idiot stage yet. He might think I am a rooster because I fake crow at him.

I'll ask her to make sure it's metal.
I think it is but I am not sure.
And the wood is gonna go. Dryer won't be used at all for today and tomorrow so we have some time.

I found out that dryer sheets are made from polyester (one of my allergens). Now we line dry or use vinegar in place of fabric softener in the washer, and either wool balls (without scent) or nothing in the dryer (natural sunshine smells best, but dryer generates softer clothes)

For those with roosters:

I was reading on a different thread that we shouldn't let roosters mate in front of us because it means we are lower in the pecking order than the rooster. Is this true?

I spend a lot of time with my chickens, mostly just watching them and relaxing, but lots of the time my eyes are closed and I enjoy just hearing them plucking grass and scratching around, making their little noises. It seems like it might ruin the peace of it if I have to keep watch to make sure Cesario isn't mating in front of me!

By the way, he doesn't seem ready for this yet. It's a hypothetical question.

Well I have three roosters and 14 hens being actively bred here, all the Roos know I am the queen bee, they toe the line or else they get bopped (pecked) where ever I can get them bopped.

I think that like any animal they learn if you are boss or if you are submissive and not being the leader. This is learnt through years of working with and observing one’s animals.

And FYI people and animals…. No difference, I am a people watcher as much as watching my horses, chickens, cat, swallows, squirrels…. They all have an agenda for something or other. It’s your job to figure out what the agenda is and work with it.

The venting is going to go to the outside area. Metal venting.
The wood vanished from the looks of it.
I asked her. She just got back.

Money is made in a mint.
Honey can be made with mint.
What's the difference?
The owl and the pussy-cat went to sea
In a beautiful pea-green boat:
They took some honey, and plenty of money
Wrapped up in a five-pound note.

Etc

Thank you for reminding me of a wonderful poem.

Not something ive ever come across. Shadrach wrote a rooster article (spent a number of years in Spain with some semi-feral chickens). There isn't much rooster behavior he hasn't encountered.

That’s good, I am glad, while I feel for your chickens, your safety is of the utmost importance. After all you’re the one caring for your chooks - right?
