I do t see why not just a very small amount - treat it like scratch grain - mine has corn oats and barley in it. A tablespoon between them both is enough I would say.

Not only did we lose power yesterday, but the storm damaged my coop. Dangit! Just needs to last until next year when we'll look at building one!!! Grrrr! :barnie

All the chicky birds are fine though! And it is nice and dry inside the coop. I think I'll wrap the run during the week. If we get a couple dry days in a row I'll rake up our soft pine needles and store them for the nest boxes.

What a pain.
You could patch that if it just needs to last a season.
I was planning to collect pine needles this weekend too - but it is a nasty wet soggy day so that plan is on hold.
