Today's project: having the kid do the baking he requested for his English class....

They're reading The Hobbit (again, for senior year) so for Halloween party, bring Tolkien themed food. Found a recipe for Bilbo's seed cakes when he was in 3rd grade. Dusted it off and made again.

(Only if the "cakes" survive a bunch of teenagers)

We're teens!

(They have to travel to school and back home first).

Oh, shucks!

looks can be deceiving! They are trouble, I tell you! I think that is why they wear their jailbird outfit all the time. :lau

A fluffy bottomed hooligan (jailbird) just for you, Alex! :)

Note, they may be jailbirds, but I love them anyways!:love:love
Aren’t your Barred Rocks a heritage breed? That makes them a higher class of lowlife criminal! 👮‍♂️

Were those biscuits English muffins by chance? :old  (For English class)

Last night I moved every Spud into the coop, ‘cause apparently no one could withstand the Popcorn gauntlet. But tonight, look! The nestbox seems to be the desirable spot, maybe because of the cold weather and being furthest from the pop door? I might change the roost platform to a bed of chopped hemp, if that’s what everybody likes better.

I have not bought a pumpkin 🎃. I remember what happened last year with the chooks. I’m not going to waste my money. (My chooks were afraid of the pumpkin!) 🎃
Buy one anyways! Cook it, and eat some of it just like you would an acorn squash. For some of the rest of it, make them a mash with their pellets and some of that mixed in. They will love it! Nothing like a warm mash on a cool-ish or damp, raw day. (I know you don't ever really get cold there, but a 'cold' day for you!)

You are right! It would be a cold day in…. Before we get a real cold day here. Sometimes the heat is just as scary as the cold. (I guess I’m just lucky that my home isn’t in the snow or the desert 🌵
