Yes, I’m still alive. Lol

I am 800 pages behind, not sure I will ever catch up.

Chooks are all fine, although several aren’t feeling the greatest due to molting. The babies are getting huge! Integration has been going well. Although they still get tossed off if they dare try to get up on the top roost. They tend to start the night roosting on the landing bar in front of the nest boxes, and then migrate back into a pullet pile on top of their integration crate.

We adopted a dog on Saturday. He is supposedly a Belgian Malinois mix about 18 months old. So far he seems good around the chicks. Sniffed one of the babies when my husband held it while I held him on a leash, then walked off. Took him in the coop on a leash and he looked around but didn’t try to lunge/chase/play with them. Of course it will be a long time before we leave them together unsupervised, if ever.

I am probably getting a promotion at work and have been crazy busy. DH is still unemployed but on disability, and is trying to find a job before Dr releases him.

Here are a few random pics, I have taken a ton with the intention of posting them but never manage to get it done, lol.

Their colors have developed even more in the week or so since I took those.

Oh Rufus is a lovely boy, he looks like he is a big boy also.

Isn’t it amazing how fast the chicks grow up? Yours are looking so lovely

I feel bad that I did not warn you sooner not to share some info with the vet. I feel like I have a collaborative relationship with mine but I would never tell her that I treated that respiratory outbreak. It would likely have the same effect on her that your revelation has had with your vet. Any relationship is collaborative on their terms with obvious limitations.

True statement, even my horse bet I have known for 40 years, he questioned me regarding the use of the needle and syringes for the draining of the Ascitis, once knew what I was doing he was good with it.

But he has a due diligence to ensure I am not using needles for anything illegal. Having said that, I would never tell my vet if my birds showed any signs of A. Flu, I would ensure I did my due diligence ensuring I quarantined birds etc.

It sad that things have to be withheld from a medical professional that is supposed to be there to protect and support your flock

Funny. I think my vet would have more of an attitude that was to make sure I am informed and then it is my choice.
She even advised against using State lab for necropsy if I suspected AI.

The door is a regular human door and it is 8” elevated off the floor. Above the door is another 10” or so.
So 9’-9’6” up. Maybe a bit more because she cleared the rim of the gutter.
Silly girl. She is so confused.

It really is a terrible thing that we all avoid sharing vital information with professionals because of what they might be compelled to do.

I’m not sure exactly, what is wrong with Sir Jaffar. He has been sluggish and without energy the last few days. His situation hasn’t improved since Friday.
I have been taking him with me everywhere, making sure he gets water and vitamins. He’s been eating normally but he just doesn’t have the energy I’m used to seeing. He’s not interested in being around the other chooks at all.
I kinda thought that I should say something about it to the club here.

Hmm. Is he molting? Maybe try keeping him home for a week or two. Maybe traveling with him is stressing him out? Try and look for other symptoms, because those are all general symptoms, usually when chickens are sick they're like that.
I hope poor Sir Jaffar gets better.

Pumpkin Time

Eve was here over the weekend and we carved her first jack-o-lantern. The chickens enjoyed it as much as she did!

Kidbitty and puppydog playing in the snow. The dog was very worried about the kid going where it was deep and kept nudging her towards shallow snow.

Sure is pretty though...
Told hubby I need at least rubber boots, or snow boots. Something I can wear wool socks under!
