I’ve dumped a couple of armloads of Fall leaves in the run for chook entertainment; they were very well received! So well in fact, that Whiskey was allowed to scratch relatively near Becky without getting clobbered

It threw me for a loop that’s for sure! But a brown egg is a novelty for me

Sunny sat on my lap today. She is comfortable enough with me now that I can stroke her back. Pip is almost there.

Tina made me fall this morning so she had to remain out the back for a couple of hours while I cleaned myself up and tried too heal a little but she was in the grass for a good few hours today.
It was cold but we had a little sun with no rain thankfully

I'm really exhausted, so after making her eat wet layers and cleaning her legs and feet she had to go into the coop. I've just given her more turkey leg meat and I'm pooped.

I just wish she would eat wet food on her own, this is worrying me

I just have to ask - is that one lone feather ? so odd how they just keep one or two.

On Twirp: she has a cluster of 2 or 3 tail feathers that got MISSED when the dog was after her. The rest of her poor butt was stripped. Fortunately she's moulting well, so growing in coverage quickly. Whiskey lost ALL his tail feathers to the dog and isn't quite as far along in the regrowth process. Hopefully he's still in that enough that he covers his butt before next moult.

I assume field corn must be tougher than sweet corn? When I have grown sweet corn they has no problem tearing it off the cob.

Field corn is tougher & more starchy - but I suspect that @BY Bob is talking about when it is somewhat dried - like the kernels you would get in a bag of corn for feed. I have fed mine field corn on the cob, but recently picked and still fairly moist (i.e. not dried and hard) and they do just fine with it that way. If the kernels have dried on the cob, it is best to shuck them.
