When do you think Poppet will start to lay? Those silkies are darn hard to predict!

I am sad to, but looking forward to what you do have coming. Honestly I have no clue. I have had her for over a month so she should be 6 months old. Technically she could lay anytime. My gut is telling me she is not close but I check daily. She is still very petite but I can tell she has grown some. Deep down, as much as I want her to be laying as that means I can be closer to viable hatching eggs I want her to wait. As long as she is not laying she is still growing. Not going to lie it is torture waiting, but I am hoping she holds off until middle to end of January. If she cooperates and does that, middle to end of February will be perfect timing to start thinking about hatching some chicks. The key is getting her to cooperate with this plan.

It is a shame we are not closer and have border issues. This spring I would love to swap 2 or 3 Branch x Poppet eggs for 2 or 3 Mr. P x Marty eggs.

That Flash, she’s a brat. I tried to get her outside before she gave me her special dreaded cecal poop . Imagine how bad that was. She had steak and cheese soup last night, along with some yogurt, meally worms, and eggs.

@RebeccaBoyd, I am so sorry about the family drama. I hope it gets better. I know it’s not the same, but my grandma can be bitter and snappy sometimes, mainly towards me. There was actually a point last year where she didn’t call me for a few months because all I talked about was chickens.

But what you’re going through is much worse. I’m sending hugs and prayers

My mom got a job at a farm, and they had turkeys there. They were processed off Wednesday, but I got a few pictures the Friday before.

Thanksgiving is a bitter sweet day for me. My old rooster Pumpkin hatched on Thanksgiving. I helped my friend process him a few weeks ago. I gave him to her family, and they asked for help processing him and his sons that were mean. RIP Pumpkin.

But worse… My dog that passed last April was born on Thanksgiving. It will be my first time without him, since I was born. He was going to be 14.
But, I feel that I need to honor him. I would give him and his “sister” before she passed away three years ago, doggy ice cream. I’ll ask my mom if we can buy my two pups some ice cream for them. If not, that’s ok. I’ll just sneak them some whipped cream

I really let the preacher have it at church.
Last week I was asked to list things that I was grateful for (thanksgiving theme)
I listed:
1. Overcharged property taxes
2. Continuous Tax increases in California
3. Billions of dollars sent to foreign countries, causing massive inflation!
4. The price increases for gas and food at the local venues!
5. The new government policies that chip away at my retirement savings. (Before I even get a chance to spend any)
6. Policies governing local law enforcement, no longer prosecute criminals for their actions!
Then I said “I think I should sit down now, because I have a lot more to say and you all can be thankful that I won’t!”
Yeah that was in church.
