We don't go where our dog is not welcome. If it's not possible to stay at the person's house, we'll get a pet friendly motel.

We boarded our first dog when we had an emergency trip out of state. She knew the people (our vet), they loved her, we paid for extra "individual play time," (they all wanted to play with Shadow!), and she still came home with a stress-induced bladder infection. We agreed that we'd never board a dog again.
Wow. That’s an emotional roller coaster ride post !

IMG_3885.jpeg Sir Jaffar isn’t sure how he feels this morning:

Lots of rain here, amazing amount of rain. Then it turned to snow, but very little accumulation. Looked like there was a moat beyond the new French drain dug on the two wet sides of the run, but the drain worked well and the run litter is dry, the pavers and woodsy / decomposed wood chips soil I piled under the litter are just nicely damp. The trench did its job!
YAY! Good job you did there.

You aren't wrong. But, I feel guilty rehoming him. He hasn't done anything wrong. He's pretty. He isn't mean. It's not his fault he's a boy. I feel like I'm discriminating against him or something!

I'm ridiculous. :th
Not ridiculous. I suspect I would feel the same way.
I just wonder if it all might calm down with time. That is hope over experience speaking as I have no experience. But others on here like @RebeccaBoyd has a lot of experience and could maybe help you think it through.

View attachment 3709528After one last external parasite check, Perry moved into her integration home today! It’s a tiny coop with a 2x6 ft run within the Fort Knox run, across from the sand box so the other chooks can spend a maximum amount of time in relaxed mode near her. Securing a cover for it was tricky but essential, since pullets Albert and Whiskey love to fly up there. View attachment 3709527View attachment 3709524

She also gets a long skinny slice of the daytime extension run. She’s full of pep and energy; here she booked it from one side to the other (as the youth love to do), catching the attention of a couple of rubber neckers.View attachment 3709526
She is really lovely!

How is your cat? I hope all is well 🙏
Well I am feeling optimistic.
She had this big lump on her foot. Nobody could figure it out. Maybe cancer, maybe an abscess.
They aspirated some cells and that suggested infection rather than cancer but was not fully definitive.
So we said 6 weeks of antibiotics and me massaging the foot - like trying to break up a blocked chicken crop. Not so easy on a cat who doesn't want her paw touched and has claws that are very, very sharp (first hand experience on that!).
Then she was scheduled for surgery when I am back in January to cut whatever it was out.
I wasn't optimistic as she already had a course of antibiotics for it and it made no difference.
Well on week 5 of the 6 weeks I go to massage her foot and I can't find the lump. Just some little scabby bits.
I am to keep the appointment in January, but if it hasn't returned than no surgery.
Fingers definitely crossed on that one!

My sister would drop of her ordest when she was a baby for a sleep over 😁 I would say she was only about 3 months old then, it was more so my sister could sleep haha.

We never had any problems with any of the kids - if they woke at night we would change them in low light, give them a snack of a small bottle, which they never finished as they would fall back to sleep. 15 min tops awake! Not sure how my sister would spend hours with them awake…?

When my two lovers got older them would sleep over and play ‘camping’ we put a huge foam ball n the living-room floor and they sleepy there 😊 NOT in our beds that’s for sure! Sheesh those kids where all over the bed sleeping - legs arms flailing rolling around - one could get a black eye from them sleeping! As bad as the cat taking up the whole bed - pushing you off the bed hogging the covers 😆

Can’t wait till next summer for a thunderstorm to give the chooks another ‘lake’ to play in!
I love the pictures from the great flood!
