Diane Ida is second, maybe first, among the Spuds. Anna is definitely last. So it’s Hazel, Popcorn, then Tedi or Diane, then Anna. Diane must think of me as an equal or lesser (servant). Rooster research might help in figuring this out?
Yes Popcorn is a sweetie with me, and I feel grateful she helped out there, and wants to enforce some civility here with Diane! I obviously can’t, at least not yet.

I suspect they think of you like a mother hen. I have seen chicks as they get bigger and bolder, challenge mom and move ahead of her in the pecking order -after they have been abandoned but well be fore they start to lay - so like similar timing to when roosters start their idiot phase.

Merry Christmas my friends! I got some cool stuff. Gold earrings, some makeup, some Stanley cups, and an apple watch. Oh, and a pair of Ugg shoes. I’ll have to see if I can be on here any today. Merry Christmas!!

Diane Ida went after my insulated gloved fingers yesterday and I thought I'd try @knoturavggrl 's (?) suggestion of that intimidating lean and look chickens do. I lifted my hand and leaned a bit over her. She backed down and stepped away. That worked twice, then she didn't step away and jumped up and tried to grab a finger. I tapped her on the neck/shoulders, but that just engaged her. We lightly sparred, she’s jumping up to get my fingers, her neck hackles came out, her growling increased and just as I was thinking, "This is obviously not working" Popcorn zoomed in from behind my left and told Diane to knock it off, pushing her away from me. Diane tried walking around a pole back to me twice, and Popcorn followed, moving her off until she walked away.

This sounds a lot like my Alinta, though she will bite or peck any part of me. Rosie will intervene as well, but that sometimes makes it worse. Sometimes i carry a stick around when with them, just holding it out between us seems to help. I also tell her no and to go do something else. "No! Go eat your seeds/grass/dinner." It seems to at least make her pause, and sometimes fully stop.

Mugs Monday

Yesterday we had some snow on the ground but it all melted….

The chicklets were not impressed with the snow - don’t blame them!

Fluffy is a true snowbird

Buttercup and Ruth don’t seem to mind the snow

And today there is no snow

Muffy has a very muddy messy beard

Butterscotch has been chased down and returned to the run 5 times today

Red was having a dirt bath earlier and was keeping everyone else away - she is holding her own - good Red!

The chicklets are enjoying being outside though they cuddle with mum Henny frequently, Betty is sure getting her frizzle feathers in.
