Chickens are pretty hardy and cold tolerant as long as they have a draft free shelter.

Dry and draft free, and chickens are amazingly cold hardy.

I didn’t know if you could only order six.

You can order as few as 3 from Mt. Healthy, but you have pay a "small order" fee. IIRC, the fee was $30, so not a small fee. But it allowed me to get what I wanted.

She talked with me, started the cooing that she used to do as a young Pullet.

Awww... She was saying, "Daddy, love on me a little bit."

I can't be outside because I'm still ill here and waiting for a call from a locum doctor because our surgery is closed. I just can't beat this cold on my chest.

But princess has been fed and had has some treats. She's been out and about bless her. She's been making the best of things

I am actually considering ordering me 6 chicks this spring! I’ve never done that before… always get mine from the feed stores or TSC. I didn’t know if you could only order six. But I am also afraid of what happened to Bob! I don’t think I could handle something like that

I believe her order was a local pickup. Can you pick that option?

I know I only just added a surprise pullet to my flock in December, but I can’t get my mind off of Spring chicks! I have done so much breed/breeder research, and finally got to complete this order yesterday: Six cute little fluffers headed my way come March!!

I’ll only be able to keep two, but Future-Juliette can worry about that detail.

Sigh, here we are, the new year and already hearing of people placing chick orders or planning hatches. I will be strong, I will be strong. No chickies for me until Poppet decides to grace us with her first eggs. 1 silkie clutch is my ONLY planned hatch this year.

Notice I said planned. I have sneaky girls, they cannot be trusted and could potentially cause mayhem.

Button laid her egg IN THE NEST BOX! She has been in the habit of dropping them anywhere, in the run, on the coop floor, anywhere but the nest box.
