Rebecca, if you can make a cushion with a hole in it for that location it will help remove pressure from that spot. Or a large piece of foam.

What I have also done in the past is to use two large pillows placed together, and place my patients with the gully made by the pillows where the pressure spot is.

Do you think your Gran would use a memory foam or egg-crate foam? Or better still ask hospice for an air mattress they are ridiculously expensive but they work well for patients that don’t tolerate pilllows or ‘donuts’.

Hugs to you and your Gran

Marty hanging with Henny and the chicks, I might give her a couple chicks this year if she goes broody again (heaven help me!)

Have you provided oyster shell too? There's an article that was mentioned here on FBA recently (by @bgmathteach ?) about the metabolic differences between oyster shell and real eggshells...oyster shell will provide a long-metabolizing source of calcium whereas eggshells are quickly metabolized and then gone, so the oyster shell will help even out the supply of calcium they need as they form shells. That's my layman's recall of the gist of it.
Oh I did not know that! I'll get some oyster shell this week then!

Very windy here.
The wind almost took the Little's coop down. We took the tarp off and it's ok but we stuck them into the top for their saftey as there is no roof.

The hospice nurse just left. A very nice lady who got to see first hand a lot of what we are dealing with. They are going to try to get a different mattress for the hospital bed. Going with a gel mattress instead of a pressure mattress because grandma complains if there are bumps. They offer nurse aids to come out up to 3 days a few for up to 4 hours a time to help with care or sit with her if we need to leave. At first she balked at it but the nurse talked her into at least one visit to try it out. I pray she allows them to visit at least once a week. I do not need to leave the house, just let me get outside by myself for just a hour to breathe. The next visit will be Thursday sometime in the morning.
