So...
Hubby was talking to a coworker about our chickens...
And the coworker told him we need a bigger coop!
He came home and said "well I think we need something with at least four laying boxes, and a bigger pen, and a big door on the end so you can open it wide to scoop out the poop."

The chicken math has gotten to him!!!!
He's also hoping to get a dozen eggs for us this week too, he's never had farm raised eggs so he isn't sure what I mean when I say they're so good.

It just gets you in the end!

I just snooped to see what the forecast is on Thursday. Mid 50's and dry. After today's initial visit with hospice and the paperwork is filled out I do not need to be present when she is here. I am going to make sure I have a pot of coffee brewed before she gets here. I am taking the entire pot outside with me and opening up Poppet's coop and I am going to sit in the run between the horse stalls. Just sit, listen to the horses breathing and watch the chickens. I have not been able to do that truthfully for more then 5 minutes at a time here and there since September when Grandma came home from the hospital after covid. The thought of being able to do that just about brings me to tears. How much sitting I will actually get to do we will see. Russ will try to mob me for my coffee. Dirt will beg and demand booty scratches and Branch will need snuggled. I will relish every single second of it.

Sounds heavenly 💕😊

Thanks! And I already have them on Kalmbach, yay!
Wish we were able to get the variety of feed you guys down there can.

Can’t complain though - mine really like the 17% layer pellets and textured I feed.

I also feed 21% chick starter which they will eat but they prefer the layer. Go figure!

Meanwhile my chicks also love the layer feed - I am not overly worried though as they also eat loads of the grain the horses spill. And poop out 😆 yummy!
