It kills me to say it, but I have found 1 positive to the weather conditions this past week. After the first 2 days of the snow, my leghorns have shut down production completely. Actually I only have 1 hen laying and that is 1 of the rocks. Temps should rise back up to the 40s to almost 50 starting Tuesday so things will start melting. I am hoping though that I can get at least one more week of no eggs from the leghorns. True to their genetics they have been phenomenal layers, too good truth be told. I have each girl averaging 8 to 9 eggs before skipping a day. Frankly that is too much on their little bodies. I may hate the snow, they may hate the snow, but girls you need to take a break. I will not count ever on them going broody to give their bodies a break so I guess I need to shut up complaining about snow. For now that is.

Gosh I feel for you Rebecca, I have a real hate for snow and cold. How is Bubba?
It is a balmy 11F right now. Bubba came off the roost for a hour. Ate, got a good drink in and dust bath. He walked to where the snow began, stood there looking wistfully towards the creek and then decided heck no and back on the roost he went.

It can fluctuate a bit. We've had it hit 400mb download speeds. It's not usually below 50mb and we have several computers connected. Ours is still sitting on the deck rather than getting mounted to the roof/arbor yet. We need more cable and clips to keep it secure to move it, so that's a lower priority than stuff like the faucet that just started running and won't shut off. (Suspect mineral build up so working on that first). Luckily the drain isn't having issues too.

Our tap in the laundry room in the basement did that, it turned out we needed to replace the whole faucet the calcium etc build up was so bad after 35 yrs…. Thankfully my Uncle is extremely handy, gosh we love him 😊

Oh my Azurs are like that 🥲 I was hoping they would also stop, but today I got an amazing 21 eggs - I am awash in eggs. But I sure wish those 3 Azurs would slow up- it’s that leghorn in them for sure 😟

Awww poor wee fella, glad he had a nice dust bath. I detest the snow and cold - in fact I still haven’t gone to the barn, procrastinating I don’t like the cold 😟

But the horses will want their hay so go out I must get going. Ok have a lovely evening all 💕

Just checking on the chooks sleeping, guess the ladies feel that the 4” higher beam is higher up than the roosting ledge and all must roost there 😊
I’ve read somewhere (here on BYC?) that when given a choice, chickens will choose a roost that allows their bums to hang down. Are yours learning to air their butt feathers out now 😆

That is very helpful on print size.
Mine are definitely fox not neighborhood dog!
Yesterday there were many prints but none came into the chicken yard. They all went around the fence-that-isn’t-there. Hoping I can get it up soon as there will be a thaw next week.
