Oh they know what will happen if they get into it (because the can't even open it)!And you think that a greenhouse will stop them? Not my chooks. They’d be looking for a way to access the new vegetables!
They have a a chicken tunnel.

Oh, yeah. I'm smart! And they are too.And you think that's going to stop the determined little feathered one's![]()
Mine are the oppositeThey don’t like broccoli?! My girls go nuts for it! But they hate cabbage, which I tried to tell them was a “favorite” amongst chickens.
That's amazing! I loved that show as well. This reminds me of Jenny Morse leading the cheerleaders, back in my high school days.
My almost brush with fame:
Her daughter is Megan Boone, "Lizzy" in the TV show, "The Blacklist."
Her dad was a real estate BIG wig in Florida; now I think that title has passed to Jenny and her brother Mark. They are uber wealthy; they're the kind of people who have 3 private jets. My brother builds/remodels houses for them.
I'm very proud of my brother; he's dislexic and never finished high school. His talents are in demand. His house is a drop dead gorgeous log house.
Mom, you were worried about him not graduating? He did fine, mom. Really, he did fine.
Wonderful.
I love your strategy. Netting really helps. I'm happy that your chooks are safer and happy!Safer
I put netting up over the side of the yard today. It runs from the gate to the magnolia tree.

This will extend the protection that the apple trees and magnolia tree provides. It will not prevent hawk attacks but it will make them more difficult.

I even covered around the apple trees into the corner where Hattie lays all the time.

I need to order more so I can close in more small areas like that.
The whole time I was putting it up this thing was flying over the yard.

Today was the first day in weeks the ladies were allowed out of the complex. Between the hawks and the snow I just kept them locked in. It was warm, over 50°F (10°C). Hattie was loving the nice weather.

I love how you have no snow, mine didn’t truly melt it just is now slush - when it freezes it will be miserable to walk on.Safer
