The netting should help with Coopers, will it stop a Red Tail dive? It might stop them from diving down in the first place if they see it well enough. It’s gotta help!
You know, it’s really nice to see Hattie standing tall! She looks good.

Hattie loves the warm weather. I love seeing her up and about.

I do believe it will stop a red tail. A Coopers can still work its way down through the magnolia tree. I need more netting there. The chickens really stay in that stretch along the fence line. This provides sort of an awning for them.

It's an improvement. The number one defense is their alertness.

My DD and my mother have both been having some medical issues ( my little girl will be A ok, my mom I not so sure about) and it has been taking up a great deal of any and all downtime lately.

I'm sorry to hear of your mother and daughters battle with their health. 8 hope your mother can beat this. It's good to know your DD is on the mend.

I am so grateful for the synopsis as I feel I can still participate here.

On a cheerful note, today I got to spend a whole hour outside doing some chicken sitting. It was gloomy but warm enough to be quite pleasant. Here are some pictures from my time with them today:

Lots of fluff butts and two cats who wisely decided to find somewhere else to be. (Myth and Avalon are absolute terrors to the cats and will peck and chase them off if they come too close, meanwhile the two boys just keep their eyes on them but otherwise leave them be. I do remember worrying about the cats being a threat to the chickens now I worry about the chickens hurting the cats!

Our poor cats. These dinosaurs are a real menace to them. They sure demand they are respected

I put netting up over the side of the yard today. It runs from the gate to the magnolia tree.

This will extend the protection that the apple trees and magnolia tree provides. It will not prevent hawk attacks but it will make them more difficult.

I even covered around the apple trees into the corner where Hattie lays all the time.

Today was the first day in weeks the ladies were allowed out of the complex. Between the hawks and the snow I just kept them locked in. It was warm, over 50°F (10°C). Hattie was loving the nice weather.
