I don't get it. Are you feeling pressured from people around you on this? If you're not sure you want him gone, then don't take his life. What's the hurry? Are you raising chickens for meat?

When my dad got me the four chicks for Willow, he told me that if I got a rooster, he’d go to Freezer Camp or I need to rehome him. I’ve asked friends if they want him, and no one does.
I also kinda want to prove to myself that if I absolutely need to, I could process one of my birds if they were hurt. I’ve told myself since I got Gumbo that he would be gone. Now he’s almost reached maturity, and I’m pretty sure that around now is when he would be best for meat. So yes, I’ve kinda been raising him for meat.

And my dad really doesn’t want two roosters. Once Gumbo reaches maturity, I don’t want him hurting Pastel or vice versa. Also, I have eight hens, and now two roosters. I can’t keep both.

@Ponypoor, I’m watching the All Star hockey stuff, and the Toronto Maple Leafs are doing really well! So are the Edmonton (spelling, sorry) Oilers are also doing very well. Of course the team that I like isn’t doing very well. Come on Tampa Bay Lightning!! Do better!!

Yes, that makes sense

I wish that he was a pullet. He was supposed to be a pullet. My dad picked him out because he had more barring than the other chicks. That’s a pretty clear sign that he was a rooster from early on. Poor Dad didn’t know that though.
