ALL HAIL THE QUEEN!
Today is her 5th Hatchday! All the tribe wanted to celebrate with her! It is no surprise that while Hattie's 5th party was very proper, Aurora's was a free for all. Sydney refused to wait for Aurora to even get there and just dived in.

Happy Hatchday Aurora!

Oh she’s such a bully at times! Usually everyone runs away from the bullies, but I think Marty’s hairdo is blocking her vision and needs trimming.

I wish I could love this 1000 times. Wee Miss Marty is beautiful. She would be a perfect match with my Branch. They both have some gold feathering lacing their necks. I know I have said it before, and I will say it again. I would take every single beating that hen threw at me for daily snuggles with her.

I actually think they have done better than the summer raised chicks, they definitely aren’t heat stressed or have bugs and mosquitoes bugging them. If they were chilly mama kept them warm, or they would hang out under the sweeter heater.

BUT the biggest factor is that it has been extremely mild here this winter. We haven’t had any -20 or -30 weather at all. Did I just jinx myself? Also my barn is fairly snug and they have lots of places to snuggle down and keep warm - a nice straw bedded stall is well appreciated by all.

The winter Henny raised her first brood it was extremely cold and they faired really well also, sometimes I think Henny is a Cochin not a satin silkie with all those fluffy feathers - what does everyone think?

Cochin?

You do know a lot of people purposefully cross their silkies with bantam cochins and call the resulting cross satin silkies. Henny could very well be one of those crosses.

Hoping it will be back up soon!
