Someone at my feed store a couple of years back designed and built a nipple waterer pvc pipe system. It works so well they break it down, store it and use it every year now. The chicks all figure out how it works really quickly and they can't scratch anything into the water.
I will mention this to JD.

Ohhhhh - this is great - he can keep an eye out for you for when bagged straw comes in - and maybe you can get him to buy a bag for you (reimbursed, of course), and you can split his 15% discount - a win for you....and a 'delivery fee' for him!!!

I have often thought of working for them - but they don't pay enough to replace my other job, and I have my hands full right now with Full-time bully boss, teaching part time, and my 'small' 🤪 flock.

🤔Hmmm......maybe I should just break down and name them all:idunno - then in theory i would have very little work caring for them, as my count would be a big fat goose egg!!:gig

yes I was lurking on Peavey Marts website seeing if they had a part time weekend job available - this working here in town doesn't pay nearly as well as at west does. I can use some extra dough!

Instead of feathers everywhere, it is fur everywhere! If you get small clumps of it (like if you brush him - the brush full) the birds LOVE to use it in their nests! (song birds) Cleo is like that - but I don't think quite as bad fur-wise as Davis!!!

He is so darn cute, though - that you just have to 'look the other way' regarding the fur (that coats E.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g!!!)
His "fur" is technically hair. I do save it and toss it out for the song birds. There is so much between him and Éowyn. So very much.

Really - he doesn't rake out the poo once a year or so? I know it is mostly for dust bathing - but surely it must get some poo in there? There is always some poo in my chickens' dust bath areas - I use a cat litter scoop weekly on it -then top it up. Not a huge area like @BY Bob 's, and I have more chickens, but it is elevated and sometimes they roost on the edges ...which means poo goes right on in!🙄
I only take out excessive feather build up from molting or if some trash got under there. Chicken poop turns into soil if given time. They do not spend a lot of time under the coop.

I do turn over the dirt in the big run under the Cluckle Hut because they create a huge hill in the run over time.

Check out my dust bathing video that I'll post in a bit.

She is pretty unflappable in general, though - so maybe just her personality.

You know, it takes a lot of work to have that amount of poise and grace - I think she deserves and extra mealworm or sunflower seed or two! (don't mention that to Queen Aurora, though...just sneak her and Hattie a few on the sly!)
It would have to be on the sly. This one has eagle eyes 👀
