Good. She might struggle but it's for her own good. While you're at it I'd cover it up.

Injuries happen, take a deep breath first. Okay now, clean it up and disinfect. If it doesn’t start to bleed or ooze during this process then thats all you need to do, other then keep a close eye to ensure it continues to heal properly.

However, If it does either of those (bleed or ooze), I would consider isolating to keep an eye out for infection and to be able to keep it clean. If you can’t isolate then you will want to clean it regularly until it’s closed up.

This would be my plan of action, someone with more experience and knowledge will hopefully chime in.

I agree with the plan. But I don’t have experience of lost toes. I would make a post in the emergency thread. I know some other folk have dealt with lost toes so hopefully someone can help.

Oh! I just noticed something bad.... She lost a toe! Is there anything I can do about this at this point?

Make sure that the end of the toe is cleaned/disinfected (as @knoturavggrl said) and put some anti-biotic ointment on it and wrap it - check it regularly to be sure it doesn't get infected. Other than that, I don't think there is a lot you can do for the toe itself. You might want to give her pain meds. If it doesn't look like there is bleeding risk, aspirin or ibuprofen would be good as they are also anti-inflammatory. If it bleeds more than just a bit as you clean it up, then children's tylenol. That could well be why she was acting off and not on the roost. It probably was hurting!

You might want a hand when cleaning the toe - and/or wrap her in a towel like a burrito, as she will most likely fight you - but it needs to be done.

Okay. I cleaned up the wound with some betadine iodine and dressed it with Neosporin. It was already scarred over, and didn't start bleeding, so she should be fine for now.

The most likely time for danger is when it’s opened to dirt and bacteria, since that time has passed now, she should be fine. I would keep an eye on it, I would wipe it off and take a good look every day for the next few days just to be safe. Look for signs of infection like redness or swelling or oozing.

All the chooks are in the coop, hopefully. I didn’t do the headcount tonight. Dakota was trying to get me to bring her inside the house, so I did. Supposed to rain again tonight.
I’ll go check on them one more time before I go to bed
