That's actually illegal in some states. Has to do with interbreeding and domesticated Turkeys can't fly worth Pony's mount poopmore. Wild Turkeys can fly rather well. Many states also have regulations on raising pheasant, quail, bobwhite, and any other bird that CAN be a game bird.
Yes. Some Federal laws too. But apparently no restrictions on Guinea Fowl.

And the "Sherlock, leave the birds alone" training devices are here. Supposed to be all pullets. If a roo slips through, he can stay (unless his behavior says otherwise).

And guess what Sherlock was doing...

Look how adorable. And such clever names too. 😉

A lot has happened today. Two big things, actually.
First: I hit a new all-time high on egg production! 40 eggs!

Second: two of my chicks hatched, and more are pipping! They are so cute. I've got a super cute shot of them sleeping together. I've got to upload it yet.
Congratulations! Babies! :wee:wee

Names have yet to be determined. They were twittering away this morning on top of "mama" then got cold and back under they went.

As you can see, good pics of this lot will be a challenge.

🤔 possible name theme: photography related: Focus, Blur....

What shall the ladies be named?

I'm open to suggestions (all sort of interesting ideas come out this way).

I would prefer to steer clear of names used before/names used by others on this thread....unless it's not currently in use/becomes obvious that it's too fitting to not use.

Two ideas leap to mind.

1. They are puppy training chickens so they could be called by puppy commands: Stay, Sit, Down, Drop, and Leave-it. I am already chuckling at the confusion this will create once Sherlock is fully trained and you are calling for the chickens to come for breakfast.
It is almost irresistible!
:gig

2. They are specifically Sherlock training chickens so they could be named after other fictional detectives. If you want all girl names you could have: (Miss) Marple, Nancy (Drew), Precious (Ramotswe), Jessica (Fletcher), and Jane (Rizzoli). Or if you aren't fussed about gender appropriateness you could mix in Monk, Columbo, Hercule or Poirot.

I love this idea! (Edited - the second one - I do think the first would be too confusing for Sherlock)
