No, I would rather not have to do surgery again It was extremely stressful - I did it because if I didn't try, she would have died - so I hoped to give her a chance, but I was so afraid I would kill her with surgery.:( I am happy that she lived despite me - but I could not have had the courage to do it without the support of @BY Bob & @RoyalChick :hugs :love :hugs and watching a couple of videos. That said, I did a far Less Eloquent surgery than those on your tube.
But you did that Doc. You saved her. Don't try to downplay that. It is amazing.

They've got quite an assortment of wyandottes. The blue laced gold is new to me. Has to be the blue laced red washed down to gold. Silver laced is stunning. So are golden wyandottes. And light brahmas look like Silver....with feathered feet, and bigger!

And they're getting lavender orpingtons! And Jersey Giants!!
Yes I noticed - gonna need to win that lottery and soon! Mama needs a honkin big barn!

The white feather coloring is a recessive trait occasionally thrown by Cream Legbars. So what were bred together to breed cream legbars?

Cream Legbars were created by cross-breeding American barred Plymouth Rock birds with brown Leghorns which created the gold and silver legbars.

The cream Legbar was created by cross-breeding these with white Leghorns; then crossing those with Araucanas causing them to have a crest and to lay blue or blue-green eggs.

So it looks like white leghorn genes expressing themselves and dominating all other colors.

So Dom White.

No wonder I am enraptured with Glynda. She part leghorn!

So much the quintessential hen isn’t she 😊

They just have that look of ‘the barnyard chicken’

Yes I was toying with the white Brahma - I have so many white chickens though, and yes those silver Wyandotte are amazing - I have always wanted one of those.

I just wish I could get one of each and just get 4. And those Jersey Giants - oh I bet they would be so amazing, and the Barred Rocks - gosh I looked long and hard at them 💕😊

My opinion, thinking of their mental well-being - Bert and Betty are so young, and she will hardly be laying yet, they both might benefit stress-wise by having their hatch mate buddy and their broody mama around with them during this time, even if right now they aren't spending all their time with each other, because you're going to be imposing a big change, confining a bunch of the flock and disrupting the usual routines they expect. Just a thought.
Interestingly enough, the silkies generally all hang out together in the summer house anyways - Marty included. I find it really interesting that they naturally all hang out in there.

I think it because it’s away from Mr P, who is now more interested in the young ladies, also it’s away from the evil naughty young ladies who pester them, especially hose Peavey Mart chicks, esp that Ruth is just such a ‘you know what!’, she seems to enjoy grabbing Flufffy by the back of he neck and drag her - sheesh!

At the end of the afternoon the rest of the original gang (Penelope Blanche Sophia, misty whiskers and buttwrcup) also all hang out there. While the youngsters all want to hangout in the stalls, or up on the straw stacks.

So I don’t think the separation will be the issue, I think it will be having another Roo around. I will need to board up the bottom of the doors to the summer house so little Roo doesn’t get fighting through the mesh with Mr P.

And those bratty young ladies who’s head may be turns by another handsome Roo.

I will be keeping Betty and Bert together in the main barn.

Tonight I didn’t put the chooks to bed when I bought the horses in, I left them to figure it out on their own. Which they did for the most part - counted 27 at evening feed, and had some panicking, then remembered the Azurs liked to roost on the plywood I have stacked in the Summer House - yep there thy were 2 of them. I moved them back into HH-B right next to Henny!

Yes Henny decided to roost in HH-B meanwhile Bert and Betty where in the nest box together 😊💕. The first nigh they were apart from mama. They are growing up 😟

The gang are sleeping similarly each night for a couple nights now: Anna getting in early and perching on the nestbox/platform divider, it seems to prevent anyone from sleeping in the nestbox. On the platform roost I think that's Popcorn near the door and Hazel in the middle, the other two Spuds in the back corner. Good night!

You wanted to see a cross between Larry and Mr P, correct? But Larry is older...a young barred rock would be a good idea, then. And her offspring (by EITHER male) would be sex linked. The males would be barred and the females would not be. Same with any pure silkies. The all black skin will pass to males while females won't get it (or will be incompletely marked).

Now that I think about it, crossing buff brahmas with Mr P could have interesting results. You'd have a good chance of blue, featherfooted Brahma sized beauties, with gold leakage....males could have the leakage extending into the hackle/saddle feathers, too....and be stunningly gorgeous birds...I think... middle of the night ideas...gotta run that through the genetics calculator as now I'm truly curious about it.

Edit: going to have to play with it on the computer. Things I've been able to do with it in the past I can't at the moment. Will need coffee first, too.
