They had hit the cabbage pretty hard earlier. The location of Phyllis' pecks is different. Aurora and Sydney go for the back last most hens. Phyllis mostly goes for the feet. Lady Featherington is so big Phyllis can't easily reach her back!

Ye Olde Time Layer

Aurora was walking around the yard complaining all day......... just like Lilly used to when she was going to lay an egg. So i kept an eye on her.

At one point, I caught this behavior.

After dark I found this in Hattie House.

Check out that beautiful nest. Aurora does not normally build nests. It appears that she did today. The egg is showing signs of being from an older hen. Still pink in the middle but the ends are muddled.

The Queen is back in the saddle!

If you remember when Phyllis first came to live here, she attacked Aurora to establish her place in the pecking order. Big mistake, but Phyllis came in high like any other chicken. Before Lady Featherington became large, Phyllis would peck her back. Now it's feet. She just can't reach her back.

Felicitas has had it with Dominica.

Dominica has been fence fighting the Littles because she and the Brahmas have a beef. Felicitas is sick of that. She walked over and pulled Dominica away, saying "Stop fighting, and get used to that peace treaty with the Littles".

I doubt it'll stop her but I hope it does.

Deaths are tough to get over. It becomes very personal, I understand this. I have experienced many deaths from various causes including active duty. Instead of facing the horrors of the issue, I make silly statements and jokes to cover up what my mind is racing through. I would give a therapist a reason to seek therapy!
Sorry, that’s just me.

We all have our own coping mechanism and there is nothing wrong with that. It proves we are all just human
