Nutrena makes a few higher protein feeds with higher levels of calcium than their 16% layer (18% Feather Fixer with 3.25-3.75% calcium) but these others except for Feather Fixer generally aren't available locally.Well the reason I went off layer feed is that it is low ish protein 16%.
The All Flock feed I give them is 20% protein.
But, in the summer they supplement their protein with bugs and worms more easily, so that is why I was thinking to do similar.
Do you feed them back their eggshells? Mine are not that interested in oyster shell but they love crushed up eggshells.

Are we assuming that the smaller soft shelled egg was stuck? That is my thought also. And the formed one likely helped push the soft one out…? Does that make sense ?
Like bagpipes?!(If you don't mind my saying, chickens' lungs don't stretch. It's really their air sacs that stretch-- so that's why they flap their wings before crowing...)
