Soooooo.... I may or may not be grounded. I got a 76 on a test today, which is the worst I've ever gotten in that class..
My dad took my phone and threw it at a wall, but I asked my mom to make sure it's not broken. Luckily, it's not.

Polishes should be here before 6:00 PM tomorrow. I still need to set up their brooder, which I will do once I am done studying for a Spanish II spelling test- EASY!!

I'm using my school Chromebook for this, and it's scary because I don't want to get in trouble with the school. I will however, take the chance because I don't want to miss out on all of this stuff.

I learned new stuff about Charlie. My parents did like him, and this is how I know: Last night, he slept on their bed until my dad kicked him out of their bedroom. Charlie slapped my dad in the face with one of his massive paws, and was nibbling on my parents when they were trying to sleep. Also, when they were on their way to drop him off, my mom cried, when they dropped him off, she cried and she cried after they dropped him off. I really hope that he finds an amazing new home. Unfortunately, I don't have any chicken photos on my computer. Wait, that's a lie. I just copied my profile picture for tax.

So, I would appreciate some thoughts.

Yesterday, while everyone was free ranging and I was cleaning out the 'field' coop & pen, the ducks and geese got EXTREMELY noisy. I come out and around..and see a fox running with a duck in his mouth. I give chase, yelling....duck slips and he stops to try to re-grab her...and gets spooked by me as I was gaining on him (only because he was stopped, though) and takes off without her.

I manage to catch her (not an easy task) to check her over. Seems the only wound was he had punctured her artery in her wing - right at the elbow. I cleaned it, but it bled like a sun-of-a-gun....I had trouble getting it to stop. I managed to get it wrapped and the blood stopped...but I can't put her out with the others as she will most definitely get the wound wet with dirty water (ducks dirty their water within minutes of getting fresh, clean water.) So, she is in the house - and I don't have space suitable for ducks such that I can bring a friend in.

Here is the problem: She hasn't eaten at all, and only had very little to drink. I am sure she is in shock, but I don't know what to do. (And, no, my ducks aren't cuddly - so I'm more frightening than comfort :( )

Any thoughts? I really don't feel I can risk an infection by putting her out with the others - at least not for a few days until the wound has scabbed over well.
I just landed and saw this. Yikes! I don't know anything about ducks but here are a few thoughts extrapolating from wound care.
Making sure the bleeding has stopped is critical - even if you frighten the duck more. Shock is likely so keep her warm and fluids with a bit of sugar - maybe overnight inside with restorative fluid like Gatorade?
I wouldn't worry about dirty water and infection too much - you can get that spray on liquid skin or whatever they call it at the pharmacy and that should suffice and most likely after 24 hours the duck's own defenses have kicked in to solve anything on the surface even if you can't see a scab.
What would worry me is penetrating injury - which she must have if a blood vessel was hit. Those close up within a few hours so the dirty water isn't a factor - but the foxes dental hygiene (or lack of) definitely is!
There isn't a lot you can do about that apart from antibiotics that I assume are not an option. Does duck pus go hard like chicken pus? If so, she might develop a hard abscess at the site of the bite.
Poor girl. My guess is being with her duck friends will do her more good than harm, maybe after some warm peace and quiet overnight.

I've got her in my largest tote - and while 2 would 'fit', they couldn't really move if 2 were in there. Hmmmm....maybe what hubby doesn't know won't hurt him...I like the idea of the tub.It is way too cold & windy to use the mudroom (it has louvered windows that don't close completely)

@Ponypoor , it was probably a vein - I should know better with the spurting! But, gosh, trying to get it to stop bleeding! I want to check it, but am afraid to disturb it and make it bleed again :(

[Thank goodness I had taken today off as a vaca day! Life is never dull, to top this all off, a transformer blew near us at about 4 am this morning - power was just restored around 10:30-11 ish. We are on well water, so went to a nearby neighbor who wasn't affected to get 2, 5-gal. buckets of water this am to take care of everyone.]

There was a bit of comedy in all this, though it wasn't until now that I could chuckle about it:

Who was chasing the fox?

Was it my geese. big and with fearsome attitudes????

NOPE

Was it my Drakes - who, despite having 14 girls between them, have started fighting over them when one is being armourous???

NOPE

Was it one of my many roosters - who are supposed to be watchful and protective???

Nope

Well, then, ???WHO????

My 2 smallest ducks (Welsh Harlequins) were waddling their little feet off chasing the fox, trying to catch him!! And the lungs on them yelling at 'him'!!!!
The laugh is for the ducks - keepers for sure 💕😊

If it’s been 24 hrs the likelihood it will start bleeding again should be reduced, but don’t wash the scab - the bleeding is actually good in that it flushes contaminants out.

If you have a walk-in shower that works great for critters - when I used to foster baby coons etc I would put them in the shower to roam about and play- and it was a quick spray with bleach to clean and spray down clean with the shower head. We have one that is full tub sized.

If not then a corner in a spare room put down some plastic shower curtain as a liner.

I sure hope she is doing ok - I am reading ahead…

When did you start the dewormer? Recap the timeline if you can, please.
Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

3 days on then in 2 weeks repeat for three more days. I have been wasting the eggs since I started the treatment. Wednesday will be last day to with hold eggs.

The gals here talk and caw while the special food - sprouts, oats, whatever, is going on, especially Hazel. I think she’s just so excited about it.
My gang hates me 😆

But they made a break for the paddock and I was hard pressed to catch the monkeys! I got them up on mount poopmore so they were happy with that.

Gosh their little feet can move fast!
