Lucky

My neighbour popped over to say one of my chickens was over there.

Nope they are all here!

So she shows me the wayward chicken and I said ……

Her though I will keep!!!

How she didn’t get eaten getting all the way down here from my neighbour 1km up the road I will never know! It’s heavy bush and swamp. She’s one lucky clucky!

@BY Bob what do you think???
Wow wow wow, congrats! A lucky surprise!

Alas it isn’t to be…..

She belongs to the lady 3 houses up, she has 2 little boys. And 3 other chickens 💕 1 is a very naughty polish Roo, and another polish hen, and another little bantam hen.

She had them outside yesterday and she went to get lunch for her little boys and when she went back out the hen was gone! She expected the hen got caught by a fox. She was so eggcited when she learnt I had the hen I thought she might cry.

My BIL told me he thought he heard a rooster crowing on that property yesterday when he went for a walk. So I went there.

So the lady her little 5 yr old and I went back over to my place to get the hen. And no wonder that hen is so quiet, the little boy walked up and picked up the hen and carried her off hahaha so sweet 💕

I have a feeling Lakshmi might be a bit hard for a 5 & 3 yr old, but Lucky may be easy. Seems the boys have been calling her all sorts of names.

In the end I am thrilled it all turned out well.

💕
So, now that you’ve had a taste of a nice, friendly, huggable polish… is this lady going to tell you where she got her chooks?!

We have had a spat of crazy warm weather, read: it is gorgeous! 70 degrees, bright sun, fresh spring flowers, and because it’s still supposed to be cold, the trees haven't begun their Spring allergy attack yet!

The chooks have benefited from me gardening up in the yard all day long because I’m providing even more snacks than usual. My current favorite trend is to broadcast lots of tiny treat morsels all over this portion of their run. A fistful of flax seeds, oats, grass clippings, etc. It takes them longer to gobble up, and each gal gets a fair chance to snag some.

Hello FBF, I am doing some chicken sitting with a heavy heart, my mama passed on the 7th, she had been ill for some time. I got to travel back to Delaware to see her shortly before and I am grateful for that.
I'm really sorry for your loss :hugs
