I’m worried about going to church today. I have head congestion and my back is killing it! I’m usually pretty responsive to church. But I need a better excuse than feeling sick

Oof. So Perry may never lay a good egg

She has a new bullying problem: Whiskey will decide to go give her a quick reminder of her position as rock bottom, but Perry will squat for her like she’s a rooster instead of running away! So then Whiskey gets in a whole bunch of aggressive pecks and destroys feathers while Perry holds perfectly still…

Has this happened to anybody else? Any solutions? POI, Whiskey does not squat for me when I reach for her- she is adamant that I am not the flock rooster. Which I don’t need her to think I am unless it’s related to this bullying?

I would say once your chicks move out there Perry won’t be bottom on the rung anymore, and likely she will stop being the centre of the others attention.

Also, she has only recently started laying eggs so give it a few months and see what happens; meanwhile my Petunia is in a nest box hopefully she lays a normal egg.

These chooks of ours are very stressful to us!

Happy Pony Sunday.
Today my ‘pony’ is this little guy who snuck out of the undergrowth.
I don’t know if he is still alive because later in the day there was a lot of interest from the chickens in that general area.
The storm has passed and today is sunny, so hopefully things will dry out. So far I haven’t seen too much damage but I have not dared look in the basement and I haven’t gone to see if the road is blocked.
There is mud everywhere!

How about not giving the gift that keeps on giving. I know if you gave me, whatever virus you have, I would be very annoyed.

I wanted to put Red in there for safety, Bert is getting very randy this week and I don’t want him chasing and pestering her. I guess I can keep her in the hay stall with the door closed. I haven’t ever seen Bert fly up on the stall walls so she should be safe in there. He can’t fly into the stall.

Oh gosh, your neck of the woods must have a different culture than mine: if anyone here is sick, it’s now rude to knowingly go to a gathering.
Before the pandemic though, how much “sick” you were able to put up with and still get out the door to work/functions was like a show of strength.
