First mishap with little CeeCee I found her hanging upside down by one leg stuck to the transfer cage.
She’s okay now but I brought her into the house to check for any broken bones.
Same thing happened to Canna when she was young. Same EE, same color, same attitude. Is it a coincidence? :idunno
Gosh these chooks - going to give us grey hair it seems! How is she today?

She was up late, just chirping at me. But she’s sleeping in this morning. I will ask her how she’s feeling when she wakes up. She’s right here by my side. Poor little CeeCee :(

Let Sherlock out first thing this morning. Made coffee, let Castor in. Went out to join Sherlock. He'd poofed. While looking around, spooked fox from hay bales below. Lost him in the pasture (wasn't wearing my glasses yet).

Went for glasses, watched more for fox...he'd now poofed. Found Sherlock. Took him with to open coop, he is improving much (tried chasing a curlew on a walk the other day and responded to recall).

Graduation mayhem has commenced. Youngest walks this weekend. (I'm sooooo over the ceremonies: hot gym, same basic speeches, rinse and repeat: oldest was the 7th consecutive year in the family)

More family visiting around Father's Day. With Mera shifting nests, she may be hatching (or have just hatched) when they're here...kids would be delighted about that....patience....don't count your chickens before they're hatched....

Beautiful flowers, but....they look like marigolds....

Love the future blackberry harvest, and Samara is beautiful.
Thank you. I'm going to try to preserve some this year
Why do those nasturtiums look like marigolds?

Both are pretty flowers that the deer around here like to eat.

Ope, they are marigolds. Someone must have switched the little cards at the farm stand haha.

Sounds like Sherlock is making huge strides in his behaviour and training, you’re doing such a wonderful job with him.

Yep graduation - same old same old. After the first one, it’s as you say wash and repeat.

Today my Majesty Marans are due to arrive, I will shove 2 under Whiskers and 1 under Curly (seeing as how my niece won’t send the silkie chicks here).

Once all this years chicks are at point of lay I’ll sell the pullets I have as extras, I only plan on keeping two of the Buff Orps, Jaffars, and one of the Marans. Not sure what’s up with those bantams - one thing is for sure they are the most friendly little chicks ever! My niece came up to the barn and they ran over to her and were following her around also! They are such a hoot, they want to fly up on you and snuggle, they follow you everywhere, and generally get under your feet. Gosh I hope they are both pullets - my luck they are both Roos 😢
