I so hope that happens for you. They would be amazingly feral. So much fun.Maybe when I'm somewhere permanent. And I can contain them. Any chicks Ha'Penny raises are bound to be totally feral.
Thanks for the confidence. I just need those Orpington eggs to show up.None of us can answer this question. It is up to your girls. Odds are in your favor that they have already sat for a week on dud eggs. They are committed. Now, I have known of broody hens giving up after only 2 weeks so the chance of them stopping is there.
We are not going to worry about that right now. Right now we worry about the orpington eggs arriving safe and sound. After that, it is a day at a time. We are going to worry about your girls getting up and eating and drinking and pooping. If one girl quits, well there is nothing that could have been done. If she quits though, by having 2 broody girls set at the same time all is not lost. Give the other girl the eggs. If both quit, that is a bridge we will cross when we come to it.
I fully support this!Dishes are done, floors swept and mopped and laundry is going. I am done for the day. Now, I have my tv on in the living room and I am going to sit and stalk the eggs.
Nice to see you. It feels like it's been a while since we connected.I have my answer for this..always have a bator ready! That's how I got started hatching. BYC ..someone..suggested that when I said I had my first broody girl. I was pretty excited. I went ahead and got a bator just in case. Sure enough, when she heard peeping under her, she flew the coop! I hurried and warmed up my bator. Oh man..I was hooked. Loved hatching! Good luck with your broody hens. That's a fun way for sure.
