Well, 3 times already I've drug Mera out of a nest box. I held her feet in the sprinkler so her belly is soggy but her back is mostly dry. Each time I've packed her farther from the coop. Most recently she headed into the pea shrub hedge. She's not happy with me but until I can build some sort of broody breaker roost system, she's going to have to deal with it. I'm just as soggy.

I remember trying to break some broody gals. Man can they be stubborn. Mother nature is strong.

Humidity hit 100% here so no spray or bucket required. We are all soggy just from ‘being’. I am charging up the fan and will clip it to Sylvie’s cage.

You never know what those British chickens are thinking. One minute they might be broody, the next minute they’re wanting fish and chips. :idunno “This is our finest hour!” W. Churchill
My all American Princesses would destroy a plate of fish and chips in a few minutes if I offered it to them!

Gosh she is so adorable I am sorry she had such troubles. She sure reminds me of Marty.

Curly my frizzle and Marty - she is quite black

Your kiddos are such dolls! How old are they?

Silkies turned out our favorites from all the breeds we cycled thru in 13-yrs -- just as smart or dumb as any other breed and don't have to worry they'll fly away and they're just as industrious!

Coincidence or not? that of all the colors our black and dark black partridge hens turned out our smartest friendliest industrious girls. Our gold partridges were not so smart, more shy, not as friendly. However, they are all gorgeous!

Today was going to be just dandy. My friend was taking me out for lunch but my cat brought me in this little bird, that has now escaped into my bedroom somewhere. :( Strangely enough pusscat didn't kill it. But I'm still not sure if it's hurt or not.

So no lunch, it's a matter of a waiting and searching game until I find this little one

It had a few little drops of manuka honey and salt water but I can't find her/him in this room.

I've drenched meal worms in honey slightly salt water in hope that I can feed and assess it to be released. I hope it's still alive 😞

Any advice on what I could feed it if I find him would be really appreciated

Since feeding honey to chickens (or human babies) is a no-no I wonder if its taboo for other birds as well?

Where did you learn that about chickens ? I have given small amount of our honey to sick chickens in water with no issue. It's what people do here.
I don't think they are in danger of botulism as human babies.

Don't you dare stop calling silkies feather dusters. Those who own a silkie cannot look at them and think the same thing. They are walking breathing feather dusters. In Branch's case he is a Monkey Man. In 3 to 4 weeks I will start sharing photo's. Photo's of chicks that only a mother could love. There is no nice way to say it but as juveniles they go through a ugly stage. Some so bad that they need a paper bag placed over their heads with eye holes. I love this stage, but then, I love all stages of the silkie's development. In this stage I will get a idea of their adult coloring, but oh they can be hard on the eyes. Feather duster, nope, they will look like they stuck a toe into a light socket. Taunt away, I can take it.
This lady says they are not even chickens. Call them what you want, just don't call them chickens.
