Happy hatch day Hattie!!

I'm really glad we delayed her party. It hit 100°F here today. It was too hot for the chickens to even move. We will celebrate in 2 days.

Dakota does make a big mess, but that’s just her personality. She’s been laying huge eggs (for a Rhode Island Red) so I give her some room for that.

Those darn ducklings. They sure make a big mess of the run. I asked them to stop making such a mess, but all they did was look at me, as if to say “put it on my bill”
Then they scurried back to the neighbors yard, under the fence.

This just happened a few minutes ago. Poor Randy, just minding his own business. This is extremely mild compared to what Siri normally does. The she devil then headed back to Bubba who was watching. If he truly tried to win her over right then, Bubba would have been on him in a heart beat.

Can't blame a guy for trying the charm - he doesn't try to breed her when she indicates she wants none of it. I would say quite the gentleman!

There are plenty of other girls - he can forgo her!

2 days in a row, 2 tiny pullet eggs. Yesterday's was about the same size as the first one a week ago. I think it's safe to say at least 2 (more likely 3) of the pullets are laying. Most likely prospects are Hetty, Focus, Kate, and a toss up on Blurr and Jane as to which will join in the laying first. Violet and Hyacinth have also reached that 20 week age, but like Blurr and Jane, are holding off a bit. I'm not expecting eggs from Daisy and Rose for another 1-3 months.
