Wow that’s miserable for everyone.

We are a bit cooler today but still humid, tomorrow will be fresh and brisk at 21C (70f).

The chooks are doing ok I keep the fans on them.

Yesterday it was 100 while trying to rain......

A Chick Flick

I have to bribe them to come out. The Mums wont let me near otherwise. I have to start trying to hand feed them again. I need the temperature to drop a little so I can start spending extended time outside with them.

I told her that because she wiggled the knob and I didn't realize it quickly enough to fix it, so these eggs might not hatch into babies. But the broody hens outside still have their eggs, and we still have Peepy and Cheepy. She already knows that not all eggs grow up since our girls have been laying, so I think she accepted that.

I know I have said it before but really, I am so amazed by the variety of colours sizes feathers with chickens! And the eggs! Amazing I tell you !

All more beautiful and amazing than the next

Look at song birds. The vast variety of colors they have. Why should chickens be less than them?

2 days in a row, 2 tiny pullet eggs. Yesterday's was about the same size as the first one a week ago. I think it's safe to say at least 2 (more likely 3) of the pullets are laying. Most likely prospects are Hetty, Focus, Kate, and a toss up on Blurr and Jane as to which will join in the laying first. Violet and Hyacinth have also reached that 20 week age, but like Blurr and Jane, are holding off a bit. I'm not expecting eggs from Daisy and Rose for another 1-3 months.

Shock of my life.
I checked the cameras before going to bed (I am in a Timezone that is 5 hour ahead of my Princesses) and I was missing a chicken. Four on the roost and Tassels in her cage (busy hatching mini-dog crates).
Where was Sylvie.
My first thought is she went back to being broody before even restarting to lay eggs, but the cameras looking at the way in to the nest boxes did not show her. So then I worried she had died in the heat. But I saw her on camera time stamped 7pm and she looked pretty energetic.
Nothing I could do. Middle of the night in the US. Tried to distract myself here with various things.
And now, 20 minutes before dawn, there she is tucking in to a hearty breakfast.
Mystery.
I wonder where she spent the night!
My blood pressure is slowly returning to normal.
