Jaffarra says we need to see the northern lights

Bob she (Jaffarra) is ‘supposedly’ an Americana, but I thought they had muffs and beards. Not a crest…. And she is really lanky and leggy. Long and lean like a thoroughbred horse.

I think they mixed her in with them to make up the numbers.

This is tough. Where are these mystery chickens coming from?

At 3 weeks a meat bird would be 1 to 2 lbs big. No way Aster is anywhere near that.
My farriers husband raises broilers, she said they are processes at 32 days and they are 2.2kg on average. That’s as much as my adult bird are. I doubt my buff Orps are even close to that at 14 weeks!

He has something like 20,000 chicks and they have on average a 2% mortality. Wow that’s a very small number - how do they keep them so healthy ? Gosh I spend hours making sure mine eat and drink and poop….. 😳

Do I worry too much I wonder?

I just looked up Meyer Hatchery and they have some beautiful rarer breeds like chocolate orps, lavender orps, bielefielders, rarer pure Ameraucana colors, EEs, olive eggers, hybrids, and more and they ship as few as 3. More $$$ but you have the company backing your orders.
Wish I could get them to ship up here - but I am grateful we have some different varieties from Hoovers. Just wish they offered more like the Dark Brahma or the Appenzeller Spitzhauben ♥️😊

Well maybe in a couple years I will get some of them. I have decided to keep the 3 buff Orps, and 3 Americanas. They will be a good replacement for my older ladies who have stopped laying.

The 4 youngest chicks I will sell when they get to POL. The silkie ls are up in the air 😢

Most large operations do not sell eggs. I needed fertile eggs.
