She took the required gym class freshmen year, she does not need another. I know this gym class, I actually took it. Well, no, I was switched into it my senior year when I bailed halfway through the first 9 weeks in pre-calculus. This is weight lifting. This is geared towards the football players. In all honesty, unless you are a football player it is a easy A. Show up, walk your mandatory 5 laps around the top of the gym and then take a nap. In my case it was poker and rook or whatever other card game my friends wanted to play. I told Rosie this as she loves cards and with her difficult schedule she might enjoy a "freebie" A. She scoffed at me. Easy, do I think colleges are going to look at her transcripts and value easy. Her goal is creative writing, chemistry is her back up. If they would let her, she would double down with another math and take Trigonometry. She is going to inquire about it, but she is not getting her hopes up on that one. She really amazes me with her skill and love for math. Last year she actually completed the last mandatory math credit she needed since she got credit for Algebra 1 in 8th grade. She does not need anymore and here we are over the moon for AP Pre-cal and wants to take more.Oh she is so eggcited it sounds - good for her
Re gym: hate hate hated gym. But it was mandatory in grades 9 & 10 when I went to school. They really should change this and credit students who take dance and do things like riding.
And an fyi - I have seen those jocks and pompom girls I went to school with, and they are all so old and ‘out of shape’ looking! Gym is a total 100% waste of time for those of us who will not gain anything but tears and jeers from it.
Geography, biology, etc, those are useful classes.
I am hoping Rosie gets her hearts desireDump gym and take a computer course!
Ok rant over (you can tell I have strong feelings about gym class).

If the run is finished along with the coop, I say let them explore. The extra space will help keep the irritability from the heat down. If food and water are hung inside the new coop for the first week (whether it stays there or gets moved outside), they will use it for at least that. You may have to move them inside at night if there are roosting places outside. Also, will the run be netted/roofed over as well as the coop?Hello all! Long time no post. I do miss keeping up with you all and your awesome flocks.
All is kinda well here. I sadly lost Goldie this spring. Not even a year old...so sad. We have no ideas what happened. We found her under the roosts after a stormy night, not a mark on her, other than being wet as our roof fix gave way, dumping water on them. But it was warm and the other hens were fine. Maybe it was shock? No way to know.
So I was down to my 3 original girls, Eenie, Meanie and Sheba. I say was, because our neighbor bought 4 rhode island reds this May...then discovered they have to move! They asked if I'd take them and, well, how do you say no to more chickens?
So, here's the Red Squadron. (My husband is a big old Star Wars nerd.)

After a bit of time as neighbors, we connected them to the run yesterday. The adult ladies are neither amused nor accepting of this, and big old cowards! They are hiding in the coop from the scary teenagers. But I suppose they'll come around.
Thee new coop, in a better, shadier building, is underway.

I hope to move everyone together in about a week. I am a tad concerned about them being locked in a 8x8 coop, in the heat 24/7. Is that really necessary I wonder? Or will the coop + run be okay, so they can have some space? I'll have to do some research.
Hugs to all...especially your lovely chooks.
Yes. The run won't be predator-proof, but it will be completely enclosed. If the run is finished along with the coop, I say let them explore. The extra space will help keep the irritability from the heat down. If food and water are hung inside the new coop for the first week (whether it stays there or gets moved outside), they will use it for at least that. Somehow Phyllis survived with only light trimming and styling. I expect that Versace should enjoy the same.hair gel - a couple of folk on BYC were recommending using beeswax like hair gel to avoid trimming.
Even Aurora never treated Phyllis like that. I can't believe they do that to him. It's so mean.Poor Mr P - I fear between me and those rotten hens, he will never grow back is coiffe! And let’s not start on his poooooor tail
But he can see to protect himself fro Bert (I keep telling myself that to make me feel better).
This morning Shorley walk up to him bold as brass and ‘chomp’ took a chunk out of his new head feathers growing in!!!Mr P glared at him and Shorley ran off hahahaha. What a brat! I had to catch Pompeii to make sure he wasn’t bleeding again. Sheesh!
All so beautiful, but I have to say Indy is ny fav!Pony Sunday
