Apparently my garden doesn't need me since I broke my arm. DH took these still photos of the two beds and now the chickens have free access to both beds since he removed the bird nettings!

Same old story:
I brought treats for the younger birds, but the old ones scared them away and kept the treats for themselves. Today I brought them steak , ramen noodles, grapes and watermelon . It’s very hard to get everyone to enjoy them. Soon as the big girls see the little ones running towards me they come out of hiding and intercept!

This is an age old problem. It takes more treats and multiple locations to make sure everyone gets some.

Well, Kasumi is trying to get out of becoming dumplings...
She tucked the youngsters in bed and was standing guard outside their brooder when I went to lock them up. As soon as I closed their door she sauntered off to the coop and went to bed. That is head hen worthy behavior. I thanked her but had to warn her...if she keeps beating Boss Man's girl Shep up in front of him the choice will be out of my hands.

The mean ones can make great leaders.

We are all swimming in it. Yesterday was bucketing it down. Now just endless rain.
But cooler thank goodness.

Yep I agree. She may yet stay. Shep is in the broody breaker now so I'm hoping that will fix the bullying.
