DH just harvested a big colander full of Sun Gold and Red Cherry tomatoes. The hens can eat the rest left on the vines.

I thought about giving her a soak. But it came on pretty quickly, she got weak fast after all the issues she has had these past 2-3 months. And with our 100 degree weather lately I was worried about adding warm water on top of it. I also think she was ready to go, if you know what I mean.



Oh my he really is gorgeous.

Yes I know what you mean, I don’t like to prolong their suffering.

Petunia is not well, she has had laying issues since the Spring, now she has some growths or something in her abdomen I can feel. I did start her on antibiotics to see if she is just having some infections from retained eggs. Also some pain meds - but she is under weight and not well. Poor wee gal.

If they are like mine, they will finish off the leaves, stems and fruit, and just leave the stalks brats! I do t botjer with a garden anymore at the barn.

Castor is going to get himself in BIG trouble. Morning half-light, taking food out for chickens, he's following me.... early bird hummingbird is hovering around the mint, no more than 3 feet from me. Castor starts stalking it. He won't hunt the mice hiding under the bush next to the mint, but he'll go for my hummingbirds?! Cat, you'll be living in Sherlock's doghouse with him (just because you don't like him) if you keep that up!

Oooo naughty Casper, my mum would clobber you of you went for her hummingbirds!

Poor princess, she's fed up today with this damp weather.
I just made her a few treats, layers mixed into peppermint tea and black solider meal worms . She had a little hand fed bread earlier.

Just when I thought it was safe to dismantle the broody jail.....
CALYPSO!!!
And she is a broody like none of the others. She is terrifying! Piglet was pecky, but nothing like this. I will have to get body armor to remove her from the nest.
I only opened the door to take a quick look and was met by savage pecking that drew blood. I beat a hasty retreat so no pictures yet.
Unbelievable. Cute, mild-mannered Calypso is the devil himself come to earth.
