The power co-op is trimming along the power lines. They've done a nice job trimming but need to come back and shred everything. Our power line right of way is about 70 meters long. This fall I plan on planting the tall sunflowers along the edges along with a variety of sunflower and Bluebonnet in the middle. The goal is to make it beautiful for next spring and summer.

Mine love buttons too. They just can’t help themselves. They peck at each one.

Our chicks went for shiny rings & tried to pull out the stones! I have 3 cases of rings and cant wear any around the chickens! They'll rip off band-aids from fingers too!

Hi Marie, we're doing well. It's been a mild summer for the most part. Working my way through some health issues. Work has been slow this summer so I've been stressed about that. I have a pending project in Nigeria that will pay extremely well so thank God for that. I hope that you and Princess are in good health and enjoying your summer

Seems like you have a really good one in Lety - she knowing and hoping to keep you from the worst of the loss (no fun at all having to bury our close friends (people, feathered or furred) that we lose!)

Sorry to hear about work. It seems like it is feast or famine with you and work....I hope that you are able to get some balance between income and reasonable workload.

What causes this?
I was talking with the little ones while they were in the run napping . All seemed fine until I felt a pinch on my butt. It was Aero, she had snuck up behind me and WHAM, bit me right in the buttocks.

She's tucking into locality grown organic potatoes with skins mashed in with greek yogurt carrots and pumpkin.
Thank goodness I'm so relieved she's eating something on her own

So glad to see her eating! Chicken appetites are iffy during moult - eating one day, less the next, & sometimes they actually turn away a favorite treat. They dont like to be touched when the new pin feathers come out & will go off to sit alone somewhere.

Glad to see you cooked the potatoes & skins well cuz of raw skins being toxic to chickens. You're doing everything right for Princess

No ~ Our cockerel Trumpet was from over 13 yrs ago. The sister we kept died at over 11 yrs old.

Pretty area ~ do you have a battle w/ weeds? It drives me nuts here & cuz of chickens, pollinators and live insects for foraging we dont use pesticides or weed killers so we pull garden bed weeds by hand ~ ugh!!

Yeah ya learn to put money away when times are good and make it stretch during lean times. Thankfully we just paid off Lety's truck so that loosens the budget a bit.
