Happy Caturday everyone.

I have not posted about these devils in a while. I took pictures of them Thursday for mom. She wanted good pictures so she could post them to find them homes. That was harder said then done as there is one that Rosie is determined stays so she was calling for them from the other room. I shut the door, she comes in to get her favorite and lets them all out. Her favorite is not my favorite. My favorite got given away to a young girl. A week later the dad jokingly asked did we want him back as he was determined to sleep on HIS head at night. Yes I want Moe *formerly Keeper Jr" or "Fattie" back but I will never say it.

First up is Panda, or crybaby. My personal name for him is Meana$$ and if I had to pick a favorite now, it is him. I am staying out of it, I will hoard the chickens. Jack and his momma Jynx who my sis took were "My" cats.

Then we have Socks who is also trying to make me like her. I kept all the kittens out of my room while I brooded the chicks. The day I moved them outside she and Panda moved in.

Mr Stripes. A uproar is being raised over this one. Rosie did NOT want his picture taken. Then demanded I delete it and we forget he exists as he is her baby and Keeper loves him so he stays. He acts just like his brother Keeper. We do not need 2 Keepers. I say this just to pick on her.

Lastly Trixie Jr. The wild one. She is the boss of them all except Panda.

Aww! They look like what I expected my kittens would look like! They really do look like Lola could be their mom. Mr. Stripes looks like my Alice Cooper too. Socks and Trixie Jr. are darling. Trixie Jr. looks like she knows she's the boss.

The power co-op is trimming along the power lines. They've done a nice job trimming but need to come back and shred everything. Our power line right of way is about 70 meters long. This fall I plan on planting the tall sunflowers along the edges along with a variety of sunflower and Bluebonnet in the middle. The goal is to make it beautiful for next spring and summer.View attachment 3921924

Looks great - My BIL has cleared a lot of the brush, burned it and also cleared the weeds from the chicken run, I had to stop him taking everhthing down to the ground hahaha I told him Nooo! leave some stuff for the chickens to hide under haha!

Thx for the info cuz it was a puzzle to me teehee! Probably more cochin than Silkie as far as coloring cuz Silkies always have the black feathers around their eyes or whole face ~ except maybe the pure white Silkies although I never had a white one but all the other color Silkies have black feather eyes.

Once they start laying eggs they will integrate better. Meanwhile they will just have to deal with it.

I have mine running with the main herd, today I noted my oldest pullets are showing interest in the nest boxes

My only worry is my one silkie chick, I worry she isn’t eating enough. I will make sure this weekend that I watch her/him eating.

I would love to get Guineas but the image of them roaming my neighbours place makes me cringe

We have nearly 4 acres, but the coop is right next to the neighbors fence. Since their dog poos in our yard all the time, I don't think I'll care what they think. Their dogs...pit bull mixes...may be issue.

Keep us updated on Guineas. I keep considering getting them for the same reason.
I live in tick-central. The last time I got Lyme the doc said that my county has the highest incidence in the country (no idea if that is true).
They think I may have something called ‘long Lyme’ - like long Covid but joints.
So an army of Guineas eating the ticks would be great. Though someone told me quail are actually more efficient at tick control.

Do quails or guinea stay close to home & know to roost at night at home? Don't know much about either.

Not sure about Quail. Guineas tend to roost in trees apparently.
