If we ordered straight run chicks it would've been $75 each from a private breeder who takes special orders on a waiting list. Things cost more here cuz keeping poultry is rarely allowed anywhere in L.A. County so the demand is high but supply is low.

We could go to our local feed store
(several miles away) and get Mareks vaccinated straight run Silkies at about $10 each but the feed store only offers white Silkies that come from wholesale Belt Hatchery in Calif. I don't do white poultry so we go thru private NPIP breeders who are rare around So. Calif.
Every one of my birds (except for Sir Jaffar) came from feed stores that Belt hatchery supplies. Chicks from Fresno!🤔

The sun is out and the chickens are going down like flies.
Don’t worry - just sunbathing.

I figured that's where you got them from. I think Belt supplies wholesale most of Calif feed stores. Although our 2nd feed store many miles away orders their chicks from Privett Hatchery New Mexico.

Kasumi is going tomorrow, she is too mean.
Your chickies are so cute ~ did the seller know their sex? What if they are all males?

So-o-o sorry about Kasumi. No chance of isolating her to see if afterwards the isolation calms her down? It's hard to part w/ rehomed birds :(

:rant Steaming mad! 😡 the repair of the fence was done improperly. Putting stress on the gate posts. I don’t like chain link fences per se, but “it is what it is” borrowing a quote from PonyPoor.
Now my gate is hanging up and hard to open. I have to wait until Monday to get the contractor back out to effect repairs.
Poor workmanship and dissatisfaction tax:
