Welp, talking to friends and family...we were grossly overcharged for bean boy. Sucks, I love our vet but we're a single income household!

So sorry for your sweet little guy. It hurts me to see animals (or people) in pain!

How long ago did your family take their pet to the vet? Prices have jumped drastically in the last year or so.

My DD was told by the rescue people the surgery for the rescued dog's eye would be $300 to $500. The surgery costs went up since the quote & cost over $1000 so you may not have been overcharged.

& forget dog-grooming maintenance. One grooming session can be $100 at a reputable experienced in-demand groomer!

i'm thankful I don't have a dog or cat to pay for the needful vaccinations & treatments & meds required. Chickens cost me enough when I choose to take a bird to my vet yet still a lot less $$$ than licenses, vaccinations, teeth cleaning, meds, treatments required w/ dogs. I love dogs & cats but just can't afford their proper care w/rising inflation .

A neighbor went into home foreclosure & when they vacated they just abandoned their dog & cat! Why do people do that?!

If I had one thing to nitpick about Julio, it would be that he is not a frizzle like his Momma and Grandma. I'm not going to though, it is better for him that he is normal feathered. It will serve him well this winter if we get another cold one.
Look at him, I see it now. This little guy is taking after his daddy/grandpa Mr. P.

His legs, those bright yellow legs at hatch that we both could not figure where they came from? Nope grey now. I hope he grows such a pretty lush and long tail that Mr. P has when he is not molting.

If you do plant watermelon lift the flowers and emerging fruit off the ground. Less likely for insects or rats to discover the fruit before they destroy it. Mistake I made not elevating the long long long trail of vines!

How sad, but totally understandable.

Times are getting really tough out there. We are already seeing people walking in doing cold sales here.

I think this time next year will be horrendous.

@Sylvester017 we love our vet so much, I'm actually okay paying more for him. We'll be eating lean but as long as our kiddo, dog, lizard, and chickens are healthy I'm willing to go with less. The quote we had was around 800 for it all and his medications, but there was a lot going on in his mouth.
I've had to give away pets I couldn't care for, and it sucks so much I would never abandon them.

Spoon feeding him moistened kibble this morning.

Nyx is soooo cute and little, she's like quail sized right now.

Cocoa zooming around because he was happy I was in the run visiting

They got a roasted chicken carcass today. Very happy birds, there was plenty to go around. I tried to cook a roast yesterday but about 4 hours in I realized my crock pot wasn't working and it was still raw. Welp, not safe for people but the birds can have it. Cooked it up nicely and they got apples and carrots alongside a whole chicken.


"This seems a bit morbid"

They had to inspect it thoroughly before digging in. Trickster held the BOrps back as long as he could.

The littlest babies were most excited for the carrots.

Nearest Chucky is at least a 4 hour drive. Lots of great pizza (like Papa Murphy, where I can cook it at home instead of have it get cold along the way) much closer, and no headache-inducing flashy lights from all the game centers.
