. I'll tell her what you saidIt’s a skinkurkin Orpington
That would have been really lovely and extra protection for your flock.I think that is right. Especially when young and fit which she clearly was. She was always alert and a good flyer.
I miss her though. I was sort of looking forward to her moving in!
Love the rich glossy color. Do you have the baby pic?
W/ 5 Silkies we are in a rotation ~ as soon as one broody breaks another starts & one or 2 are always leaving an egg @ day! Boy do layers get mad if a broody snatches their egg to sit on it! Every hour on the hour there's a racket going on. Good thing we're home all day to stop the noise for the neighbors' sake.So the days are getting shorter, the leaves are beginning to change color, and there is a noticeable nip in the air when the sun goes down.
Sensible chickens are replacing their feathers so they can stay nice and warm in the winter.
And then there is Tassels…..
TASSELS IS BROODY AGAIN!!!!!

Partially incorrect.I noted that although the bird has an adequate amount of tail feathers (though slightly decreased through molting) its eye is covered, so I naturally assumed that was what the bird was missing. I think the correct answer is "An eye and tail feathers".
