Okay enough about the politics. Just a friendly warning: keep your powder dry and your eyes wide open! We’re in for a rough ride.

Congratulations Mrs Little Chicken.Mrs Little Chicken
Has joined the ranks of laying hens.
She laid this wee beautiful egg just now. I know it’s hers because I had her and Flopsy in the summer house on their own sitting in nest boxes.
Not sure who the other punk egg is from but for size comparison.

That’s actually a pretty decent sized egg for such a wee chicken!
Taking this advice because Shiba-san is getting to be that age...she'll have a real challenge since they're in an enclosed system but something tells me she is going to do her bestCongratulations Mrs Little Chicken.
I'm telling you now, block any and every entrance into your hay loft, no matter how small. Familiarize yourself with every nook and cranny inside and outside your barn. High, low, everywhere. No place is safe now or off limits. Trust me from experience, check your stall walls. If there is a gap between boards and she can squeeze in, she will. Fortify yourself with coffee while you can. The silkies and your other girls have prepared you somewhat for battle. I will say it now and stand-by it. There is nothing more sneaky and determined then a game hen when it comes to being broody. Nothing as fierce either when it comes to protecting her eggs and chicks. I'd say you have 2 1/2 to 3 weeks tops. Weather and time of year mean nothing to them.
I know you have swore off broody hatched chicks. It is noble of you. Before a year is out Mrs Little Chicken is proudly going to make you eat those words at least once.
There are no winners when you do this. You are going to upset someone. Please stop.Come on! Voting for Biden is definitely chicken related. I say vote for the goose View attachment 3976075
I can’t wait to see this one play out!Congratulations Mrs Little Chicken.

I just covered inside and outside her barn. I failed to mention her runs, any woods around her property, hidden spots in the horse pastures. Mrs. Little Chicken is built to fly, no place is safe and really no way to contain her unless she rebuilds Fort Knox. What about Kelly's house? Is there shrubbery for her to hide in under? Porches she can get under, can she get under the floor? I know it sounds extreme. Momma Hen taught me well in the ways of a game hen.I can’t wait to see this one play out!

I am sad you had to suffer so much pain. Hopefully they at least offered you some pain relief.Social medicine is the pits! When I broke my arm this year it took 21 questions about insurance coverage before the ambulance figured which ER hospital to transport me, 1 hour waiting in the ER admissions, a couple cursory checkups & Xrays, wrapped my arm in a flimsy sling & sent me home to see my "primary care physician" who was gone on vacation. Some yelling & I got another staff doctor who finally referred my broken arm to an Orthopedist. All this took NINE days w/a painful broken arm in a makeshift sling!!! Oiyoyoi!!! I switched insurance management during open enrollment but I have no hopes it will be any better.
Pain tax ~ voting reminder again ~ she's my best hen ~ no squawking, no poop, no moulting, & she stays pretty & sweet.

She is really looking more like young hen rather than a chickie nowThey are so sweet. Aster is showing those tendencies. Perhaps learned from her mum.
