I keep forgetting to chime in on the Wyandottes, and I’m late to the conversation. I’ve had two. Lucky looooved to cuddle and lap sit. She was middle ranked and not bossy. Roxy is still with us and is extremely docile. She hasn’t been bossy, either. Both would of course enforce the pecking order, but were never mean.
My Wyandottey is a roo and luckily he’s a snuggler too

Does anyone know what “Bok, Bok, squawk, Bok means 🤔
Xzit has been chanting that phrase all evening. She’s in the house tonight. She didn’t get fed enough today, so I let her have some alone time to relax and eat.
It means, give me more and then some more food to follow
Tut, Alex just ask your chickens 🐔 🤣

Got the incubator out to make sure all the pieces are here.

I told kiddo AFTER her birthday in March we will hatch some eggs. At least an incubator load, if any hen is broody we'll give her eggs as well.
We ate one of the chickens last night we had butchered Sunday. Hubby is very impressed, he said home grown is better in every way. We might move some coops around when we get a new run next year, so we can seperate them into two groups.
Liara is getting better and her molt is going well. Nyx and Morinth have just started sneezing and getting bubbly eyes. Hopefully they don't get it as badly as Shep had.
My neighbor says it happens to most flocks around this time of year, just gotta keep them comfortable and cull if they get too sick.

Sounds like Coryza, you can give antibiotics for that. That is what I am worried Laverne has but no other symptoms. If she had the sneezing and foamy eyes I would definitely give the antibiotics.

If you can separate them I would - limit exposure to the rest of the flock.

Here is a primer from Merck

And a snippet of treatment:

Because early treatment of infectious coryza is important, immediate administration of medication via drinking water is recommended until medicated feed is available.

  • Erythromycin and oxytetracycline are commonly used for treatment.
  • Various sulfonamides, including trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole, and other drug combinations have been successful for treatment”

Ok thinking good thoughts for your girls, 🥰 definitely treatable and good results from what I have read.

I have ordered terramycin and it should be here by the end of the month. Until then I have Banixx and Vet RX I can give. I also have Hydro Hen for the water.

Is there no Veterinary place you can get antibiotics from faster?

I am thinking I may just go ahead and treat Laverne for Coryza. I don’t see anyone else with this swelling etc, but I have half my ladies moulting so I don’t want them to catch anything, they are already stressed with moulting 😞

Hard time of year with the weather and moulting….

Oh I wish I were closer (and no border!) I could send you some of my stash of meds for the pookies. 😣

I need a big slingshot 🤔😁
