Yeah, good luck with that. That involves getting Poppet off those eggs. I will find out for sure tomorrow, but I think she is maybe as tall as George, just stockier.
I didn't get Monday Mugs pics today. After I got home from the dentist I sat with the girls in their run for a bit, they were checking out my ice pack And when I put my head down on my knees (sooo tired), they all crowded around and groomed my hair. They're so sweet. Until they start pecking hard
I'm trying to teach them what "gentle" means. But I don't know quite how to do it. When they peck too hard I say "OW!", and I give them a tap on the head or back and tell them "gentle". I speak to them softly and tell them "good girls" when they're being gentle. Hopefully they start to get the picture...
Chickens are smart ~ they'll pick up things w/time/frequency/habit. Our Mini in 6 years of hearing me call DH out to the backyard she started calling his name too & w/ the same tonal inflections as my voice ~ I kid you not! She said his name clear as day but never had the camera when she called him!

Mine will stampede to meet my mum and BIL when the come up to the barn. And I do mean stampede - squawking and flap running, what a noise! They are so eggcited to see them because they know they have treats ! They do not do that with me! I am not the treat Hooman
I'm...kind of here. Thanks for all the sympathy, it's been devastating. Had a good long cry today because I got up, got my boots on, and was to the gate before my brain caught up to me that there's nobody to get up.
I think I'm most upset about losing Nyx. She had just started crouching for the boys, they still had no clue what to do about it but she was ready.
Hubby is telling me that I will have new birds in spring, he had already arranged hatching eggs for kiddo's birthday last week before everything happened.
We will clean, and disinfect, and replace the dirt, and put in anti-dig barriers...there's plenty to do now that it's empty.
Ummm. I think you need to post SHRA tax.
You even gave a response to my post about this.
Which is what BGMath was responding to that caused Bob to ask about the joke.
My head is going round in circles!

Yes Poppet is broody and sitting out of reach from me under the hay stack. I do not know how many eggs she is on. I do not even know if they are fertile. If they do hatch they will be silkie x game mixes with Randy being the dad. I will give Poppet credit, her spot is a safe spot. This is her 2nd time in 4 months being broody. The first time she decided to nest on top of the hay. She fought me tooth and nail but I broke her after almost 3 weeks of sitting on nothing. This time she outsmarted me when it came to a nest spot.
