Today has been a bit interesting.

While Castor was napping inside the big house...

Then, after he went outside,

And a deer came round to investigate the growly pair

Started to take Sherlock for a walk...

They came running, hoping for more goodies (they got plenty along side breakfast)

Glanced back while heading down the driveway. Sun is behind the mountain (behind me), but still high enough to light the clouds across the valley.

Sherlock was sniffing around, came away from the interesting smells when I called, and this fellow popped up. Rabbit, still has at least 1 dark ear, and as large as Castor. Biggest wild rabbit I've ever seen.

Upon getting back to the house...

(Same place the chickens were in 5 min earlier)

And he turned away.

Beautiful animals! What do they find to eat in a snowy pasture ~ amazing.

They dig through the snow to eat grass under the snow.

Wow spectacular sunset!

That is a Varying Hare not rabbit- and they are HUGE! And good eating my BIL kept us in these one winter when my sister and he stayed here prior to their new house getting built (30 odd yrs ago…).

They are dark in the summer and white in the winter, very skittish too. Esp this time of year when they turn white but have no snow to camouflage them.

I used to curse them when out riding and they bolt out of the undergrowth like a white flash, scare them crap out of the horse.

I really wish the chooks could see one and try chasing it hahahaha, now that would be hilarious!
