Chickens love meat. They're carnivores at this point.I shared my ravioli with Coco, but she only pecked the meat out of it and left the rest of the noodle

DH just came in from the patio & said the birds moved themselves to the corner of the house & garage behind the coop near our back sliding door. It's the best protected spot from rain, winds, or sun year round.Take your chooks inside.
Maybe give the wild birds something to drink out of where they can't infect the chooks.Hey y'all just wanted to give a gentle reminder to not have lots of water sources around if you can help it. I honestly think a sick bird drank from/miraculously aimed poo into one of my fence bowls or something to spread illness to my flock. It's one of the things I will be changing this spring. It does make watering inconvenient and might be impossible for some of you, since you have waterfront access. But all of my bowls will be back from the fence a few inches and have a roof set up above them.
I love all your birds and want them to be healthy!
I'm going to turn an old satellite dish into a feeder/waterer station for my big run this spring. Hubby and I already figured out a way to do it. It'll give the chickens something to run around and jump on too.
Yep, we changed to nipple waterers years ago that way wild birds have nowhere to perch to get a drink & no bowls or cup waterers to perch or poop on!Hey y'all just wanted to give a gentle reminder to not have lots of water sources around if you can help it. We might move the birdbath station to the front yard. We have enough property. Or just let them have the food and water stations next door at my parent's house.Maybe give the wild birds something to drink out of where they can't infect the chooks.
Thanks!Perfect names!
Sometimes the brain grows into the vaulted cavity and can kill the bird. We wound up doing an investigative discussion on it a couple of years ago on here.I wondered about that vaulted poof myself. There are pros/cons to everything in life. Be informed is the best way to handle any situation. Silkie chicks will peck one another in dominance yet the chicks run away from each other instinctively to avoid pecks from their chickmates. Now, we never put our Silkie chicks to mingle w/adult birds until they were 4 to 5 months old nearly full size & their eye fluff trimmed.
The group of Silkie breeders (below)aren't terribly worried about vaulted chicks as long as they aren't in a situation to get pecked on the head. This applies to Polish & some other crested breeds.
