Progress with Davy and Barbosa.
I moved their food bowl to about a foot from where I was sitting earlier and filled it up. Up to now neither boy would eat if I was in the coop with them. Both boy's after a minute decided they were ready for breakfast and dove right in. After a couple of minutes I exteneded my hand towards them. Barbosa backed away slowly. Davy, stared at it and then pecked my fingers. It did not hurt and he was curious.
Their full personalities have not come out yet, but from what I have observed I am very happy with them. My new silkie friend was honest with me and not saying what I wanted to hear in order to unload a few roosters. They have been handled just not handled individually daily. I can pick them up to put them to bed or let them out and they do not go into a mad panic. They are calm about it once you have your hands on them. Davy is the braver one and Barbosa feeds off him. The key to winning over Bosa is going to be winning over Davy. Davy is also more mature I think then Bosa. Davy crows, I have yet to hear a peep from Bosa and his voice has not really changed over yet from chick vocalizations. Davy has not been crowing long, it is still a very teenagerish strangled crow.
I want them to come to me willingly. I do plan on later going back out to sit with them and I'm going to hold each of them for a few minutes. I really do think if Bosa lets me rub his crop and the back of his shoulders he will enjoy it. One thing they are not, even still wary at the moment is aggressive.
