I looked everywhere and couldn't see anything! I wonder if it was a rat that ran out, say me and the chooks and ran for cover. Though I have not seen any rats on the cameras at night this winter, I wonder if the chooks have taken care of them!

All I could think about was Mr P seeing that hahaha and how the girls tear at his long tresses.

It's possible. You have enough chickens to gang up on rats and take them out.

My girls killed a short tailed shrew the other day but didn't eat it. I was like, WHAT'S THE POINT?! At least it isnt eating their food anymore. I found it IN their feeder. It wasn't a bloody mess or anything but there were a few small wounds on its sides. Must have died from internal injuries, poor little thing.

I have seen how they kill frogs, like an alligator or croc they flog the poor thing around smacking it into the ground till it's dead then eat it in one big gulp!

Except when one of their flock-mates tries to steal it, and in that case the poor critter gets pulled limb from limb. Our lovely chickens really are quite brutal!
