Loved the great sunny weather today! I got out and cleaned the coop out. Changed out all the straw and added sand and pdz to the poop boards. I'm rather exhausted because this is normally a 2 man job, but DH is sick, so it was just me. Lots of straw to haul out and in!!! The chickens were thrilled, as they always are. Fresh nesting herbs in the nest boxes and the place smells like a garden. 😁

We usually do this once a month, but the weather has been so uncooperative that I think it has been a couple months this time. Big coop and lots of straw, so we got away with it. We keep the straw about 3" deep, 8 x 10 coop, lots of straw to haul!!! But they are so worth it.

I was too tired to take any photos.

Here's one from the other day.

This is Duchess I think...or Lory...I honestly cannot tell them apart. 😁 But, Lory is the older, I think this is the younger.

I'm just thinking about feeding their little toes into that boot. Seems like wrapping might be easier.
In all the years we had parrotlets & parrots the only bird w/ a foot issue was one English Budgie we adopted w/ a missing foot. The breeder gave him free to us since he couldn't be used in shows. He moved around great w/ one foot hopping around & climbing like any other parrotlet. Wish I had a pic of him.

Some other English Budgies we had:

I had budgies that are fun little birds ♥️

We had a few more hatch overnight. There are three unhatched eggs. I'm giving them today to see if they will hatch.
I transferred the chicks to the brooder and I thought Red was going to fight me. The legbars and ayam cemani were fiercely squeaking up a storm! I had to keep reassuring Red I was giving them more babies, not hurting any.

My new, bigger brooder arrived yesterday. And my brooder toys arrived as well. Hubby and I will figure that out when he gets home from work.

It's so cute! And much deeper and taller than the lizard cage, which is good because we currently have 25 chicks. 😱

My pain is pretty bad today, I overdid it yesterday but couldn't help it, I have baby chickens. On the plus side, I can start taking ibuprofen as well as the norco/tylenol combo.

Hey, everyone. Sorry for not replying yesterday but I'll have you know, I was on here waiting for notifications but there have only been a few. Either way, I'm liking @SimpleJenn's new brooder. Also, it's disappointing to hear your pain, Jenn. If the ibuprofen and norco/Tylenol combo works, that should be good. I'm no expert in pharmaceuticals, so I have nothing to tell you.

Good morning GtC - hope you’re doing well.
