I do something similar with the barn swallows, they have nests down the middle of the aisle so I (used to) place shavings piles under the nests to 1) catch the poops, 2) remind me not to stand under a nestI would put sandboxes under their roosting beams. Easy to clean, and you always know where the poop is going.
Do they all get on? Or do they have occasional spats?
