I use metal garbage cans with bungee straps looped through the handles and lid handle to keep raccoons away from my feed.

I was up at 1am this morning and saw the blood moon but not very clearly thru this horrible dust! We did finally get rain so yay! But we have occasionally gust of wind up to 75mph.

Like I said, I could not get any clear pictures of the moon since the sky was full of dirt.
Here is one picture

WOW! That is a stunning picture.
Beautiful & kinda eerie too...

Lets start out with the pictures from inside the silkie hut.

Everybody except Poppet and the tiny terrorist Turkey are roosting on the little roost I made for them. Poppet and Turkey, are sleeping on top of the orange nesting box. I'm calling this a win though as previously NONE of them would roost.

Hector Barbosa, you little devil. You almost succeeded in another escape attempt. I cannot stay mad at him, look at that face.

Hello Patsy you pretty little girl

Now that Barbosa is fully relaxed around me and not on high alert at all times he is a nicely put together cockerel.

Look at the back of Barbosa's neck, he could be Clyde's brother from another mother.

Davy is also gorgeous. Truthfully, both boys will compliment my girls. I am definitely going to do a hatch for myself this spring from them. I think I will start collecting for myself the last week of April and set them May 1st. My turner holds 48 eggs. I doubt I will fill it full, but we shall see what happens.

Martina, I'm so thankful all 6 turned out to be pullets. Branch and Poppet's daughter's are each so different, so pretty and if there had been multiple boys, I could not have chosen who to keep. I love every single one of them.

The Tiny Terrorist may be wild, but oh is she ever pretty. I will win you over you little demon.

Lastly sis brought over a small pumpkin for me to give to my chickens. I told her I was wasting my time. I decided to cut it in half and try one last time. I put it in with the silkies. This is all that is left after 4 days. They made a Liar out of me.

Happy Friday everyone. The sun finally came out and Tassels is flaunting her pretty fluffy butt.
Totally shameless!

ETA: now the ice has gone the list of little chicken chores has grown to mammoth proportions - but all I can think of is sitting out here in the sun watching my Princesses having a grand old time.
It is still cold, but the sun on my back is so nice I may just have a short snooze while I try to remember what is on that list. 💤

@RebeccaBoyd ~ who layed the dark larger speckled egg? Wish I had a Wellie for dark & speckled eggs so I could tell who layed what egg.
That would be none other than Lilly

She was named in honor of @BY Bob former Queen of Fluffly Butt Acres at a few days old. He will have to share some photo's of her. She has grown up to look so much like her. I hope she is doing the "Iron Beak" very proud.
